Where is the water coming from!?!?!

Im now really pissed...i changed the carpet in the car over the summer due to the smell and it just being dirty beyond help. Now that it has been snowing and cold i noticed that smell is back in the carpet and it's now in both the driver side and passnger. I touched under the dash on the passenger side and i noticed the screws on the a.c unit had water on them. I cant trace to find where the water is coming in from. I opend the hood and check the fire wall..along the wires i have running past it...nothing. Anyone know where else to check? A while ago i had a bad leak in the headliner( the whole driver side was wet and dripping) but the water was coming in from the windshield and i was able fix that with some silicone. I want fix the problem before it rains again ( just used the wet vac and cleaned out the carpet) Any ideas? I noticed this all started once the blower fan started messing up when you set it on 3? (im hardly getting any heat and it's making a clicking sound like something is dancing around in there) but it still blows out strong just...hardly any heat? Any help ? This time since im not at work i did use the search on here but those areas dont seem to be where the water is coming in. Im going to try and take another look around on my break at work.
Airport and flights keeping me to busy ...even for my own car...:-(...cant wait for the holidays to be over..

is it water, or is it coolent? if your heater core fail's, alot of times it leaks right onto the inside carpet. usually just the passenger side though.

if thats not it. then your leaky windshield is back.

Check the two cowl drains, there is one on each corner of the cowl the drains are probably blocked. I had this problem in our 323.

Im not sure what to think...it was so cold by the airport i did'nt even get a chance to check under the hood. I dont think its coolent leaking into the car because it has a sweet smell to it. I had a wif of it when one the hose broke and went all over the engine. I think the cowl drains might be it. With my blue protege my pops drained it and that stoped the leak but i never asked where its near to know where to look in the first place ....but my guess is by the wipers. The heat is my main prob ...i have a 3 year old in my car 90% of the time...when im cold drive'n home from work im good but..to hear her say im cold breaks my heart everytime . Its a very odd problem before my trans went if i put hte heat all the way up...if you were to put your hand near the vert it would have burnt you..thats how hot it was...needless to say the car would heat up really quick...but since then i dont knwo if it's a hose the broke loose or something but...im get'n half and half (heat and cold) and hear soming clicking around in there but for the life of me i cant figure out what. it's very odd because the car does not over heat or have problems heating up and there is more then enuff coolent in there so...i dont know...Any help i would take with a smile..and i dont care how cold it is ...if i can get that fixed sunday i will deal with the temp and do so. Im getting old and im also in the process of de-rice'n my car. I think i'll get a probe or escort and make those my toy but as for the protege it's the family car and i have to make sure everything is working well...its the only car i would trust to drive from N.Y to Cali with no problems...or get a protege lx and get rid of the back doors and have it made solid with fiberglass(make it 2 door) and keep going from there.

The drain was blocked on the passenger sidebut the driver side had free flow. Today after all of the rainning thats been going on the whole passenger side was flooded all the way to the back. I never seen it this bad...i noticed that the driver side had some water but not as much theres another leak along side of the windshield and the one by the headliner opend up again but atleast the trunk is bone dry. Im going to have to take out the carpet and leave it out ontill everything is fixed...now all i need to figure out is what wrong with the heater.

take off the cowl and take a tube of silicone, lay a nice seal around the plastic piece on the passenger side. its the cover for the HVAC air inlet. mine leaked a ton of water there. i used a full tube sealing that bitch up. now it doesnt leak anymore

Mines was being a bit tricky because my pops checked it and did the samething and the water did'nt go down but the next day there was water inside. I think at the time the seal was going .
