Man I was just about to post a thread about this....Anyhow, I thought i was getting bad gas mileage but after reading you guys post I think mine is just about right.
I get 270 miles on a full tank of 91 octane and this is city traffic. I can prolly get it to 300 miles if its highway drive.
BTW how much gallons does this lil 323 have? 10?

might be just me, but grandpa might be a little past his days. there are things that have MORE to do with lack of fuel economy than a clogged exhaust. your car would be largely undriveable or not run entirely if your exhaust was clogged. needless to say, taking it to a shop is the first step.

hm, i tend to get gas right after it hits about 325 miles on the trip odometer...
by then the fuel light has been solid for about 20 miles or so...

when i drove down to newport last month, i filled up when it hit 385... that was pretty nice...

so my mpg is fine, but i smell gasoline anytime i get out of the car.

That's where I fill up on the highway... around 385, but around town I usually have to get gas around 275-300

                  Well, got it back today...
                  The good news...
It's not really running hot. The temp gauge says it's running hot, but with a laser thermometor, it looks to be at a cool ~165. Exhaust is not a problem.

                  The bad news...
Still haven't found out about the milage thing, everything that could be causing bad milage is great. Car is running great, etc. Couldn't find the "bad smell" i was describing.

running too cold will hurt gas mileage, has the thermostat been replaced? A lot of new thermostats fail in the "open" position to remove the chance of overheating in the event of their failure.
