speedometer / odometer not working..

    speedometer / odometer not working..

    I pulled out the cluster today to check on changing the illumination colors to red.. After I put the cluster back in, everything works except for the speedometer and the odometer. I'm guessing this has to do with the odometer cable.. I made sure it was on good. I did try to get some slack to plug it in when I was reinstalling the cluster, but I never got any slack in it and I didn't pull that hard, or so I thought..

    Where's the other end of this thing, I suspect it has just come loose.

    Lol, pulling your cables, no wonder

    Isent the speedo hooked up to a gear in your tranny or something to that effect

      yeah, i'm pissed at myself..

      yeah its hooked into the tranny but I'm having some trouble finding it. looking through the service manual right now

        If you know where the starter is, the speedo gear is next to it on the bottom.

            ... good job cowboy... wow.. don't know how that managed to happen.. that's amazing.. i must have ****ed around with mine 5 times, that is five times taking it out and 5 putting it in.. and i managed not to mess up anything while wiring in my remote start device good luck with that one

              yeah. i found the speedometer cable laying behind the battery, i'm guessing i'll need to go to a junkyard and get the part that broke, and the cable might fit right on.. i hope it does, i've got like 15 dollars

                  i'm taking the gear off right now and monday i'll go to the junkyard and get another one.

                  speedo cable pulled out of the gear it looks like.

                      i cant get a freaking socket to the bolt for the gear.. is there a secret? I took out the battery, and the intake hose that goes to the tb from the maf

                        Is it safe to drive around without the gear in the tranny? Don't want the fluid flying out while im driving to the junkyard monday

                            bwahaha... I happen to have a SOHC speedo-cable (both halves) sitting out in the garage I could give it to you for the price of shipping cause i'm a nice guy

                              lol be easier just to go get it from a junkyard the next day, then paying shipping ( which might cost more then some junkyards ) and have to wait a week for it to get thurr
