Infini Repair Phase One
Saturday 8th/04/06
Since the Crash I hadn’t really done anything other than just strip all the bits and pieces back to figure out what’s wrong and what needed to be replaced.
From there its just had a car cover over it waiting for myself to be able to afford to start work on it.
My top radiator support bar is un-repairable and will need to be taken off and replaced with a new one. I have someone ready to do this for me BUT I need to get my car to Glenfeild for him to work his magic on the front of my car. Its about 40 kms away and im on a really strict budget so after a good look at my damaged radiator support bar I have decided to basically panel beat it out and fix everything myself. Then I will just drive it Glenfeild. There is enough strength for it to easily hold my radiator fine for one trip.
The plan for Saturday was to get it as ready for the trip as possible with the parts I have. Sadly money is the issue at the moment and that’s what is taking so long.
Thanks Amir for taking the photos...
First thing we did was pull the radiator support bar out and "beat" it into the right place!
Tools used? A big bit of wood and my trusty Hammer! That’s all I needed!
We Managed to get it prity straight!Them we bent my old radiator into shape and tryed to fit it back into the engine bay (We did this to check there was still enough room in the engine bay, Which there was)
As you can see there was heaps of room - After that I fitted the brackets on the top of the radiator to check the strength with a radiator in place. All ok!
From there we took off my old munched bonnet and went to replace it with a second hand white one I had picked up nice and cheap.
BUT it didnt fitSo I am on the hunt for another bonnet. I’m not too worried at the mo but that will be added into my "to get list"
Here you can see where most of the damage is (to the passenger side) and how it missed the bottom radiator support and chassis rail. The easiest way to explain the hit would be, "Impact to passenger Headlight", So i was REALLY lucky!
You can also see that the radiator will still bolt in ok and everything should temp mount up for the trip with no major dramas.
Its time to mount the front mount!
I have modified to piping so that it will fit on my new intercooler (I just have to make a few small changes to a couple of pipes) and also checked to see if the bumper will bolt on ok with the intercooler mounted there. ALL OK! B) so now i just need to get some brackets made up for the cooler and get a couple of silicon joiners and the cooler will be ready to go!
Other than that front end wise we didn’t do much else! (that took a good few hours) So we moved onto the outside of the car to make a few small changes! :D
First we swapped my old door handles over to the Chrome ones I picked up through a friends old Familia
Then we moved onto the boot where I have had the "Familia" center piece painted to the colour of my car...
BEFORE
AFTER
As you can see its slightly off colour but she will do for now. I can swap it back to the tinted one if need be.
And thats about all we got done on Saturday..... Im planning on doing some more work next week so ill keep ya posted
Here is a pic of the 38mm external wastegate I have got (its got an 18psi spring so ill need to change that before it goes on.) B)

"There's a hierarchy of insanity in motor sports. Normal people think all racers are crazy. Folks who race sedans think people in open-wheel cars are nuts. People who race cars of any kind think motorcycle racers are absolutely off theirs meds. But there's one group that everyone agrees is made up of the most extreme, the most daring, and absolutely craziest people in racing - rally racers."
