apparently the drums actually have better stopping power than the rear discs.
you mean the power brake booster??

Eh, pulling on the ebrake in my drum equipped protege seemed to stop harder, but I always thought that was a question of adjustment. It really isn't worth the hassle of swapping, though, unless you know you really need it. I did 30 minutes of hotlapping with rear drums, you'll be alright2006 Mazda 3 hatchback manual

Yeah, just compare how small the surface area on the rear brake pads compared to the shoes. Its amazing. Not to mention that apparently the rear calipers on first gens seem to have been plagued with sticking problems. Probably the second gens too because they gotrid of the rear discs as an option in 98(?)Ryan The middle child is always ignored
