Just got back from a long-ass trip to antioch. And after doing the grand total of 15 hrs driving, I'll say the rad and water pump are working perfectly now...and my back is still killing me.

Tried to take some cool parking garage pictures at the local mall today, only to get chased off by mall security because "It's illegal to take photographs on mall property".

Yeah, I thought it was pretty funny, honestly. Oh well. There is more than one parking deck in Greenville.

          There's two!

I've decided that my car is a girl, she's picky as hell, won't listen to me, always wants to fight me, and when i give her presents it's never good enough and she always wants more.

I got another oil pan this morning at the junkyard! Looks pretty good...doesn't look like it has that same spot where Ryan put his oil fitting but it's got a circle smooth part with an indent in the center right at the front, I think I'll be using that spot.
Going to clean it up at work today.

place it where mine was.... mine was slightly machined... but all of the pans manual** have the spot to put it. its thicker there & thats where its supposed to return to...
Always put your return above the oil level.

I replaced my clogged up radiator, and put in a new thermostat and put a new rad. cap on. Then I testdrove, saw that the water temp never got above 84C, then I drove the crap outta the car for the first time in a while, not worrying about overheating the silly thing. Went to my fav twisty road and emabarrassed the hell outta some crotchrocket rider....

heh nothing much today...other than finding out my buddy at work had a bad day with his teg. The water pump got messe dup in it 9supposedly I jinxed him) and it took him two whole days to get it fixed since th epulley wouldn;t come out. By the time he got it all right, he started the car and it sounded like a friggen'diesel truck. poor guy.

pulled the engine/trans out of my parts car today did a little bit of a hack job to save some time, cause it was a parts car anyway. 2.5 hours flat from the time i put the jack under it to the time i set the drivetrain down on the dolley not bad for my first engine pull, if i do say so myself! the car already had the front bumper and headlights removed, so that saved a bit of time too.

by a hack job i mean i just cut the power steering lines, ac lines, and heater core lines. also the axles had a lot of play in them so i just pulled and ripped the inner CV apart instead of struggleing to pop them out of the tranny properly. kept the wiring harness intact though as a spare

I'll have to look again, but I didn't see a thicker part. It came off of a LX 5 speed though.

Does yours have the little circle with a "hole" in it on the front face of the oil pan? There's another "hole" near it as well. Looks to be lower than the oil level.

Any suggestions as to where on the X axis I should put the return, like at the shallow part of the pan or the deeper part?

I cleaned it fully today with SuperClean and a scotch type pad. Looks great. I have to see what oil flange my brother has for the turbo(one of those oval flanges) to get what size the fitting on the oil pan should be. Seems like an easy enough deal, and if I get it done soon then when I change the oil next (needs to be done now) I can put the pan on too and just plug the fitting until the turbo goes on.
