    Cylinder head flow

I just got back from an engine shop that was curious about my BP engine. They wanted to flow test the head, then head and manifold. In general, they were very impressed with the head design, hated the intake manifold. Not sure what lift they had the valves set at for testing, but the head itself was flowing about 108cfm (mathmatically good for about 175-180hp). With the manifold and throttlebody bolted on, it flowed about 100cfm. I'll probably just stick with a mild port job and concentrate on reliability. In rallying, it doesn't always take huge power to win, just power in the right places and good driving.

may be worth doing the "cut" intake manifold mod... not sure if ryan still has a cut manifold lying around but you should ask him! :D

It's in the process. They'll be modifying the manifold soon enough, once we work out a budget for the build. At this point, I'm thinking just a nice, strong n/a to get the car going for a year or two. We'll make the top end breath, shave the head a bit to bump up compression, but leave the 9:1 pistons with Total Seal rings. I've got a set of GTX rods to put in, then all ARP hardware for strength.

heck, why not just toss a VJ20 on there with a GTX ecu?

That's the end plan. I've got the 1.8 GTX ECU at home too. That's why we want it to make good low end power now, so we can run higher compression with lower boost levels, in the future. For now, I need to also prove out the suspension, and other items before worrying about how much power we can squeeze out of the engine, reliably. The project will be a year or two in the making, but all smiles!!
