90 Protege charging issues

Hey everyone,

Great place here. Wonder if I get some advice. Am having some weird issue. Car won't start anymore. It makes a weird noise when starting , then it runs fine. even drove it home. turn off the car and try to start it up again and it won't start. Any thoughts??

I have had my battery and alternator tested, they are fine.

Maybe starter? or Voltage Reg?


I should mention the engine is a 93 not that it makes much difference, same motor basically. Car blew its 90 engine, 93 engine was put in when I got it.

Does it atleast try to start or does it just do nothing?

When you try it after shutting it off it trys to start but it feels like the battery has no 'juice' and eventually won't turn over. Then you just get clicking.

but how long do you try to start it before the battery drains? If you continue to crank the car over any car will drain the battery if it doesnt start. You need to check all grounds on your car. I've heard of the ground under the clutch master cylinder will cause a no start. Check that one. You'll have to remove the battery tray.
