Never tried to do a burnout with my pro because im not that rude to her
Who said that reving is damaging the engine? It makes it happier!!!
Handbrake turns are funny, but require A LOT of expirience, so, dont try to park in your garage using handbrake... not yet :-)

2all: why are you guys doing this? Imagine yourself when you were 14... i bet some of you didnt even know how to start the car properly! We should all be (i am) proud on so young member and protege fan!
Btw. i also dont have the license yet because im 17.5 and in croatia you can get the license with 18 years. Im driving since im 14 and now i am really pissed and dont know how i will wait for half year!
    2protegechriss: i understand you man!

hand brake turns where you're kicking out your back end can be just as detrimental.. bent rims, ****ed rear suspension.. it's not a game to be playing. i do that on occasion, but that is ONLY in the snow, and it's very seldom i do it. neutral dropping/rev dropping to do burn outs isn't fun unless you've got the money in hand to replace your clutch or your transmission. you can kick it with these cars pretty hard, but i wouldn't recommend half of the things discussed in this post. and if when you get comfortable enough and get into wanting to barrel around corners... i would highly recommend front and rear strut bars.. as if you take a corner tight enough, fast enough in a protege, you will kick a wheel into the air. body roll is another nasty side effect to our cars in cornering as well.. just a few things to keep aware of
            peace
also, not that it happens right away, but after alot of high rev driving/reving the engine period.. even in a standstill and not in gear, just causes unnecessary ware and tear on an engine. there is no reason to be doing this, even to warm the car up, as you wouldn't want loss of compression, blown gaskets, over heating, etc. just be SENSIBLE with a car, the more you push it, the shorter it's going to last/the faster it's going to take a **** on you. ask anyone and they'd say the same.

Revving the engine constantly at 6000 rpm in neutral is actually good for the motor. You should do it tonight!! It helps burn out all the carbon build up and clean the engine out really nice which helps you get lost power back.

alright man, after reading demons post, and then yours. I kind of get the feeling you are kidding.

As for handbrake spins and all that sahit, HELL no! I see no point in any of that.

here, i'll give you a nice horror story.. late autumn night in 2002, i'm traveling down an undivided road that has 2 lanes each direction (4 lanes total across).. drunk driver comes up my lane in on coming traffic and after repeated beeping and flashing my headlights, he kept swerving back and forth as if to play chicken. needless to say, i panicked!! slammed on the brakes, pulled on the e-brake.. the car fish tailed into a full 180.. mind you on dry pavement.. being fully out of harm's way and starring through clouds of smoke.. i was to say the least.. startled. after that, repeated wobbling from my rear wheels led to taking it to my mom's mechanic, only to have the diagnosis.. blown rear struts and a bent rim. mind you i wasn't the most experienced driver (only 5 months of having my liscence).
                  peace

Actually, handbrake saved my ass once, bigtime! I was cornering a bit too fast (which was very stupid because i didnt know the road), car understeered and started to move out of the road into the woods, i release the gas completly, pull the e-brake, started drifting, slammed on the gas again and drifted really nice . I missed some old woman which was driving in other direction and she was like .

I love to do the occational burn out, and how do revving in neutral effect the tranny when the power isnt getting to the tranny. and saw this guy with a civic doing hand brake 180s 270s and 360s, i almost died in because of the happiness.
