    Protege trunk leaks water...

    So I think i'm cursed.

My tercel leaks copious amounts of water, which in turn rusts my tools.

I opened the trunk of the 90 the other day to find a pool of water residing in the left pocket of the trunk.

Does anyone know of an explanation and solution to this? I want atleast one fancy car that doesn't leak water..

    Thanks!

Mine was leaking water on the left side too. I thought it was the sunroof drain at first but I never could figure it out. The tail light idea might be worth looking into. Thanks.

When my trunk leaked i did 3 things to stop it.

        1) already mentioned, reseal your tail lights and trunk garnish/license plate holder.
        2) Get a new trunk seal. They are not too bad from the St(d)ealer
        3) Checked for serious rust in the rear wheel well, tires spin water UP. And Ontario uses salt... lots of salt... the ocean is depleted of salt every winter because of Ontario.

        Best of luck!

When you turn your car on... does it return the favor?

Make sure the trunk isn't loose. For some reason the hitch and the metal around the hitch for my trunk broke, quite literally. So the metal was bending slightly and not holding the trunk closed tightly.

A single self tapping screw later and my trunk is tightly sealed.

Oddly, I discovered this and fixed it, not because of water (Which had been a previous issue) but because when my subs hit, the trunk would rattle VIOLENTLY, not just alittle but horrrrrribly. Problem gone.

Typical BG place of leak - as it was mentioned above - is in tail light seal, check them first

So how should I reseal them? I was thinking silicone window/door sealer? lol..

Probably just tighten the nuts holding in the tail lights. everytime I have taken them out they always seem to be very un snug. But im sure some silicone or something would work just fine. I might do that tomorrow actually, if it isn't snowing.... ughh

My mom's Pro leaks water as well on the left side of the trunk. It's not much, so I/she usually wipe it dry with a rag once in a while. Mine still has no issues.

I ordered up a new trunk seal, picking it up tomorrow. Dern near 100 bucks but I'm awful tired of the pool of water in the jack recess.
