    Is this possible? Both are second gens.

    abso****inglutly not lol The steering column is another thing that was Fordified... The Mazda is splines, Ford has a flat spot to go on to. I tried this myself about 3-4 years ago.

        I guess if you swapped the entire column you'd be okay lol

          according to fe3-323 thats a false statement. i would be willing to swap the columns if i heard it was doable. fugly escort steering wheels :[

            I think if you swap the rack & pinion, the column will work. And that means the steering wheel will.

                The wheel won't fit, but I don't know about the column. Has anybody tried that?

                  I got in a crash a couple years ago where i collided with a guardrail while the steering wheel was turned all the way, and on collision the wheel was set straight again, thus forcing the rack and pinion and breaking it. I replaced it with one from an escort gt, though it wouldnt fit. I looked at them side to side back in the hosue, and just interchanged a couple parts from the broken one onto the escort and voila, it fit.
