I just pulled the HID's so I could send them back and went out and bought some sylvania Xtravision bulbs and put those in, and, well, I couldn't believe it, but they were actually BRIGHTER than the HID kit I had!!!! lol, now I can see good. I think I'm just going to stick with these bulbs and my fog lights and not even bother with upgrading.

hmmm makes me consider trying those out. I was going to splurge and get some Osram 4100k replacement bulbs as my HIDs are getting annoying.

I like the xtravision over the ultras. They last longer, and don't put off as much heat. And they put off more light. The package says the ultras are better, but they really aren't. These are the xtravisions Click image for larger version

Just by looking, you can see that the "ultras" are worse, because of the coating on the lens.

If a bulb has a coating on the lens, I won't get it. I ran the Osram Hyper CP64205 - 70/65W bulb (H4 bulb, EDM glass housing). No coating, and they were the best bulbs I've ever used. They finally died (low beams only) about 2 weeks ago. Not bad for three years of pretty hard use, with lots of bumps and temperature change (rallyX, ice rally, heated garage to below freezing air, etc..)

I wish they'd make an HIR (not HID) bulb in H4 or 9004 style, that would be nifty!

I think it should be mandatory that anybody looking for lighting for their cars should read up on danielsternlighting.com it's well worth the read, and will save money by avoiding "junk" lights.

here's a good article about HID lights on his page: All About HIDs

they make those HIRs in 9005/9006...just so happens my 626 uses both thanks for the info Sarge, never knew about them. Will be doing more research!

Also didn't even notice those Ultras had a coating on the lense, I just read the specifications and rate it that way lol, but Brody suggested those xtravisions, and I think I will try those out. It's a shame they don't make your Hypers in 9004 oh wells! lol

Finally did an oil change to the car today too, woot! Oil was black lol probably from tuning the VAF I'd imagine, she was pig rich a few times! haha.

Drove it. Planned to wash it and organize, clean the trunk, but didnt get around to it. Eh. Maybe Sunday. Changed the oil last week and put 1/2 bottle of lucas oil treatment in and it stopped the loud ticking lifters. I still plan on pulling the motor out when it gets warm to see what i can find and replace a bunch of stuff. Still need to find a b8 tranny.

today we changed my fog light bulbs, jb welded on one of the headlight mounting tabs that broke off the back , and i updated my ms2 firmware from 3.1.0 to 3.2.1 with all the gslender idle enhancement firmware mods to see what i can get out of them. i also recently started to tune the idle pid a bit to remove the rpm drop on decel, and make the pid slightly more aggresive in general. ego control is also using pid controls now, ive got rid of almost all fluctuation in the afr numbers, idle moves .2 up or down and accel is spot on to what my afr target table is. im starting to get the hang of these pid settings, its not as bad as i figured it would be in the first place, but its nothing you can just go toss numbers at and hope for the best....lol.. so now my passenger headlight doesnt move anymore , my afr doesnt move, my idle doesnt move, and is almost better than stock, and im not even done adjusting all the new idle enhancement settings yet.... the guy who made this firmware mod also figured out a way to make room for a whole new memory and backport a bunch of stuff from ms3 so well see what else gets put in in the next few firmwares.... basically it just opened up ms2 to alot of new features and future advancement, ms3 and ms3x will still be the better choice, but for us cheap bastards this means we wont need to spend the money for some of the ms3 features......lol.....

That means the 1.6 sohc and the 1.6 dohc both use the f series trans?

And how well does the traction bars help with traction? Is this more for off the line traction, or stability in a whole?

And what did i do today? Organized my trunk and hit a curb. My dog heard a few new curse words today.

Mazda bg chassis, yes. But not the entire bg chassis! You're forgetting the zx2 has a g series trans as well. But it doesn't have a bp. It has a zetec. And (technically) the zx2 is a bg. Of course, the zx2 g series trans has a different bellhousing pattern, but it's still a g series.
