What did you do to your BG(part 8)

Pulls one way when accelerating, pulls another way when braking. Steering feels loose. When I go over railroad tracks it makes a ton of racket, like a bad strut mount. Everything in the entire front end is brand new now, except for the rack itself.

Are your control arm bushings new? Are they torqued down?

New energy suspension control arm bushings (double and triple checked the tightness), new struts and mounts, new inner and outer tie rods, new ball joints, and wheel bearings are tight and don't make any noise. The only option left is the rack itself. Alignment wouldn't cause a rattle over bumps.

What type of springs you running? Coilover sleeves?

Is it a noise or can you feel it too?

I would also say check the brake calipers, but that wouldnt cause the steering to feel loose.

How are the rack bushings? That could cause all those symptoms.

Could also be a bad CV.

CV's are new. I'm running Intrax lowering springs. I pulled the steering column cover off the inside of the firewall tonight and inspected everything. It's definitely coming from inside the rack. And I can feel it as well as hear it.

sounds like crossmember or motor mount to me

You should pull the rack and strip it down to see if you can find the issue, then re-seal it back up for manual steering? Just a suggestion if you're not wanting to source another rack.

I'm done with the car. It's been one thing after another since I got it. In parting it out in the next few weeks.

is the tension on the rack shim adjusted properly??? when i converted mine to full manual. i noticed it definitely had to be tightened more.

Refer to my mx3 manual rack thread- its super easy anyhow
