yo dudes what is the magic method to bleeding the coolant system on a ZX2?

my usual BG method of "fill rad, fill overflow, let that **** sort itself out" has let me down. no heat, temp gauge waves back and forth.

did you just install a new t-stat or something? You just have to let it warm up til the t-stat opens up and top it up as it circulates then cap it.

no, that might be next though.

car had heater core replaced before I got it, I replaced the rad and water pump fairly recently. the gauge thing and iffy heat have been since I got the car, but since I did the rad and pump I have like zero heat, if I turn the selector knob to mixed or vents the gauge drops way down. replaced the radiator cap a week or so ago too.

tried to bleed it originally the way alldata or whatever says to, (fill rad, let idle til warm, make sure rad is full, then turn on heat full blast) but it didn't seem like I was getting any more air out of it.

I guess I should make my peace with getting coolant everywhere.

Not in a very good mood right now... Took the eibachs off my s/r to put on my race car, and found this: Click image for larger version

FYI, I bought the car wrecked (it got t boned in the left rear), and was going to fix it if the frame wasn't bent. From under the car and with the wheels off, it looked like the strut took the hit and the frame was fine. Which would have been an easy fix for me. Just strip the paint off the car, cut the quarter panel off, weld a replacement one on, smooth it out, and repaint the entire car. Then replace the struts and that would be it.

After seeing the damage in the car today, I just don't think it's worth fixing. I'd need to take it to a place with a frame rack and pay to have it straightened, which I don't have money for. Plus, the car has a little more rust than I thought it did. (It's still pretty clean, but I can see it's starting around the edges.)

I guess I'm going back to my original plan of fixing my '03. And most likely either part out or sell the s/r. I know the local short track racers would love to have an s/r, as the rules state vehicles must be 2003 or older, and must be mechanically stock. And most tracks are outlawing vtec Hondas and acuras, or making them run so much extra ballast that they are slower than the other race cars on the track. With the s/r having the aftermarket parts on it from the factory, it would make an awesome race car. And the frame doesn't need to be straight for oval track racing. At least, not where my car is bent. The only thing is that I'd probably want a little more for the car than they'd like to pay. Most likely I will be taking it apart and selling a few parts off it, and use the rest of the parts on my '03. Or maybe I'd build it into a race car myself..... Decisions, decisions, decisions......

Build it for yourself Brody. But if your right Fender is clean, trade me for mine first. It has two small dents, and that yellow S/R I found at the JY is gone now. That would take care of the extent of my body damage.

So I think the crank in my new s/r is restless... I believe now that it has gone for a stroll. I was having what seemed to be clutch slave issues, but now it's worsening... I started to recall my buddy in high school who had a talon, and how he was having similar issues, which ended up as the infamous crank walk. So I researched it before work this morning, and I'll be damned, yellow s/r's especially as well as random other zx2's are somewhat known for crank walk.

Looks like I need to track down a KLG4 ASAP. Ill powder coat the valve covers baby blue, and I'll fab an intake to be coated crinkle blue, and do the intake mani flat black. It'll resemble the s/r bay, but be way better. Sucks, but oh well.

Son of a bitch. Just got home from work, (drove the white car today ) and had my Girlfriend start the S/R, then I had her pump the clutch pedal while I watched the Crank Damper/Pulley. I am officially a victim of crank-walk.

Couldn't get a mazda output shaft seal in time for install. The auto parts store one is leaking, but still not nearly as bad as the old one. Also repaired the neutral switch with a backup switch and saved myself $20. The neutral switch has been busted since I've gotten the car and fixing it has dramatically improved the idle and no throttle neutral cruising(a good amount of down hill stop and go here). Going to get a OEM seal with my next factory parts order. slantyface.jpg

Also dented my sub box, with the removed axle while I was taking to get the core back for it.

installed a 19mm rear sway bar and some leather MX3 seats.

the seats tilt inwards all dumb, I'm guessing because I'm using Escort rails?
