Prob had a air pocket in the system somewhere that worked its self out. These cars suck for that.

Past week
Replaced less than year old china clutch master that was already leaking with the old one I rebuilt.
Cut a new gasket for my passenger tail light as when I removed it to reseal body seam it no longer sealed(It's now leaking less)
Brights work all the time now not no longer dependent on the cycle of moon.
The next project will be installing a damn light in the glove box because I had to root through it this morning at base gate and the dome lights doesn't illuminate for **** there and touching your mobile device while driving(even sitting still) even to just use the flash light is a $200 ticket.Beater=/= Sleeper

Hi everybody, it's been a small while... figured I would share an event with you.
Left for work the other morning and 5 minutes into my 1/2 hour drive to work, my 2 belts snapped. I assume one made the other let go ... My charge light came on, lost my power steering and it started getting real cold real fast...but I figured my battery could hold until I got to work so I kept driving down the 401 highway. Whenever the car would heat right up, I would shut the car off and coast. It was so cold that the engine returned to N.O.T. in about a minute, minute and a half. Got someone to get me an alt belt and a socket set and installed it in 5 minutes at the end of my shift. I drove an hour and a half back home with absolutely no heat registering on my gauge. Like I was to confirm later, the thermostat safety opened when I did that coasting thing that morning so I was running with a wide open thermostat thus generating no heat. I wasn't 100% sure that maybe the wire fried on the water temp sending unit, but I figured as long as the charge light didn't come on I knew the belt was still on there, which meant the water pump was turning so no worries about overheating...
So I get home, replace the t stat and install a new PS belt as well...Run the engine let it heat right up and low and behold the engine starts to overheat... the fan isn't turning on...I look at the fan and I see this:91 GT- Li'l Bee (under construction)

The fan was melted!
I am sure this was not the cause of my dilemmas, but what a surprise! Luckily I had 3 extras!
So now everything is good, all is well in Protege land...
In closing, I bought this infrared thermometer to use to test my t stat and engine temps... what an awesome tool!! so glad I bought it... I was able to aim at certain spots with a laser light and instantly get temps: upper & lower rad hoses, upper & lower rad, T stat housing, head, block... I was able to follow the flow of the coolant... I easily diagnosed that my new t stat was doing the job... On sale at Princess auto for $24...Money well spent!91 GT- Li'l Bee (under construction)

Awesome. It's good when the important stuff doesn't melt.
Today I got an alignment and advanced my base timing a little more. Don't know how much. I went by the vacuum gauge since it's a real pain to try to see the marks anyway. I like the result and I don't think I took it too far. It makes a lot more power now and with smoother delivery. Very different exhaust tone afterward too.1990 Protege 4WD

****ing Rhode Island roads have caused my passenger side headlamp to cut out for like no reason. all of the connections are tight, so the bulb is probably smoked... or something is up with the ballast? I dunno.sigpic
