Replaced the rear struts yesterday, drivers side went smoothly. Passenger side was a pain because of a few old age related matters.

I was pleased that at least the rear KYB 3rd gen escort struts were the same size length/spring perch height as the SR tokico's. I was afraid they'd be different.
Hopefully the fronts are the same as well. Although another 1/4-1/2in in the front wouldn't hurt, could probably even put the front tie bar back on then.

I finally got a fancy positive terminal with a cover.

No more shorting wrenches to the strut bar for me.

The SR muffler had not been attached well since last deployment ended. After replacing the rear struts I didn't want exhaust dumping on the right rear so I finally gave up and had a new catback welded up.

$200 out the door for it and a new silencer overall pretty good deal for here. The closest "raceshop" quoted me 350 for just the axle back.

Dead thread

I replaced the nonexistent exhaust mani to exhaust gasket.
I also tried to to replace a broken stud with a replacement but managed to purchase the wrong size bolt and none of my miata spares were no where near the correct size. I wonder if the tubular manifold has a weird thread pitch.... Hell it probably has standard as I think this was off an escort.
I managed to use the broken stud by backing it out some and managed to get a full nut length on it. Not the optimal solution but better than 2/3 bolts.

The audible exhaust leak has now moved from the engine bay to the middle of the car so it'll be time to replace the cat gaskets soon. Hell I probably have a hole in the cat.

What shop did you go to, ESH? I wish I knew you needed an exhaust. I have an extra pacesetter cat back laying around. Just needs a quieter muffler if you don't like it loud.

I did not go to ESH because I didn't like what they quoted me on the phone for what was originally just going to be a 2 1/4 axle back.

I went to Barr's Muffler as the quote was a hell of a lot better and they seemed like decent guys who would appreciate my business more.

Not the best looking welds, but it's only going to be on the car for a year or so.

I keep forgetting there is another person on island here, we should head up tantalus one day.

After I get tires though.

Finally got the v belt pulley fir the milli alt. Who recalls where the 3 wires go to. I know one goes to a 12v switch and the other 2 to be tapped to the factory wires. Who remembers or knows what goes to what? This should solve me killing alts for a while.

Found out the hard way that the battery was deader than dead. Died at a stop light, pushed it from the middle lane of a busy street to a side road, failed at 2 or 3 bump start attempts, called a friend to jump me, took it home, applied battery charger, and no dice. So long, money.

And the damn thing is stuck at the bottom of my driveway.

Replaced the front struts yesterday, took an additional half inch off my already cut bump-stops because I really wanted three inches of front travel.

It was a fairly uneventful install save for the passenger axle coming out of its cup because I let the hub wander a little to far over. Has to removed it to get it back in its home.

Car feels much better overall, hell just putting along in traffic is noticeably better. New tires should come in a week or two. Then I just need to replace rear sway bar rubbish and the car will be quite happy except for the flex pipe exhaust leak. But **** that.
