Only reason the motor isn't pulled out of the car is..

    Bolted to trans...
    Bolted to motor mounts..
All a/c lines still installed. Not sure the proper way to disconnect this system...

You can keep the A/C connected if you really try, just unbolt it from the block and remove the bracket holding the high pressure line to the chassis at the cross member and radiator support and bungee it in away from everything.

Ok... So i got the compressor off the block. Just 'hanging out'.. Now i'm stuck with the single bolt behind the pulley on the PS pump that I can't get out entirely.. Any tips on that ****er??

And note.. I'm REALLY thinking about yanking a/c out entirely, and even PS, but no availability to manual racks... Anyone have one lying around?

EDIT- Meh.. I know I REALLY should keep PS... considering track use.. but my argument is '1 more thing to potentially go wrong'.....

Can't you just take the power steering pump bracket right off of the block (3 bolts)? Or is the exhaust manifold in the way? I haven't had PS in many years....

Speaking of not having PS you could always just depower your power rack, that's what I'm running.

That Power steering bolt though the pulley is a pain. You need either a supper slim line socket/ratchet combo or a perfectly designed 14mm wrench. I've never had much luck getting the p/w steering bracket off the engine while it's in the bay but it's a possibility if you're really struggling.

I've used a flex-head ratcheting wrench for that bolt before, if I'm not mistaken. which I could be, it's been a long time since I wrenched on any of my Mazdas. BUT!!! just the other day, I cleared the trunk off of my gray 4WD, opened it, and put a bunch of stuff that was lying on the floor beside it into that trunk, and closed the trunk back up.

Granted, I was just making space to stash a LE5 2.4L Ecotec engine, but I actually touched the Mazda!!

Been mostly wrenching on a new acquisition... 1996 F250 XLT 4x4, 7.3L, 5-spd, porno-red interior. Needed a tow pig, this will fit the bill. just a few things done on it so far:
took tires from old tow rig
              oil change
              oil filter
              fuel filter
              air filter
fuel bowl new O-rings and hoses
              new glow plugs
              new glow plug relay
              new batteries
              new high-speed gear-reduction starter
              new front shocks
              bled the brakes
              new rear brake shoes
              new right-rear axle seal
              new turbo intake boot.

              things in the mail:
all four pieces of the front steering linkage (joints are completely toast)
front axle u-joints (more than toast)
fuel heater element to go in the fuel bowl.

still need to stop a couple small leaks, the turbo pedestal o-rings should finish off the job. Kinda neat, instead of an oil line going to the turbo, the oil galley in the block feeds the pedestal that the turbo mounts to.

Here's a pic of the tow pig, I think this was in Pendleton, OR on the way back home from the pickup in Portland/Vancouver. I think his name is Vincent.

once this is done, I'm just going to yank the suspension off of my mx-3 to get ready to put it onto my 323, and probably scrap the MX3 if i can't find a buyer before winter. then I'll get my 323 ready for winter daily driving, of which the first task is making the heater blow hot again. a flush might work, but I think I need to just throw in a new heater core. bleh.

also, isn't the P/S pulley slotted? take the belt off, spin the pulley to line up the slot, and use a deep 14mm socket to get that bolt out. piece of cake.

hanging **** from your tow hooks is super uncool now, right? just want to make sure I'm catching these trends at the correct time.

The frame rail and other **** make using a standard size socket difficult.

there's like just enough room to do it, that's how I've removed that bolt pretty much every time. way easier than dicking with a wrench unless you have some kind of witchcraft that can get a ratchet wrench on there

So I was describing my car to someone at work who has never seen it (since it has been parked for a couple years now) and he said wow… how many different cars did you steal parts from? So I decided to make a list… this includes cars I took OE parts off of, as well as cars that I bought replacement parts for and used them as upgrades or to make the transmission swap (or something else) work the way I wanted it to.

                          Currently Installed:
                          95 EGT (duh)
                          ~92 323 GTR (duh)
                          S13 240SX
                          ST185 Celica Alltrac
                          ST165 Celica Alltrac
                          SW20 MR2 Turbo
                          90’s Toyota pickup
                          ZX2 S/R
                          ~00 Camry V6
                          ~00 Escort LX
                          ~93 MX3
                          ~00 Protégé
                          ~01 Miata
                          S4 RX7
                          BG Protege

                          Previously Used:
                          S5 RX7 Turbo
                          ~97 Kia Sephia

I think that covers everything… yikes, 15 17 cars total lol.

replaced these with some new OEM ones I got on eBay for $15, now I don't have to worry about the clutch pedal cover falling off anymore.

Nice, I need to get some of those for both cars. I think the black car has some universal rubber ones on there which never really fit properly.
