my windshield reflector works pretty well in combination with the tinted windows... takes it from instant death to mildly annoying, which is nice when you have black leather seats.

With garage doors, you generally want the reflective side pointing in, to keep heat and light inside. The insulation layer goes between the door material and the reflective material most of the time. Most of the time, a foil-backed foam insulating sheet is used, say 1/2" or 3/4" thick. That foil does block a lot of radiated energy, so sunlight heating up the garage in the summer, and cold radiating in in the winter. But, it only slows down the radiation, it does not insulate. So, once the inside temperature and outside temperature are the same, it's not really a big difference. Granted, even if your garage is fully insulated, it WILL drop to the same temperature as outside, if left long enough. But, if you're in there working, and have a heater, insulation will help more than a radiant barrier as far as the time it takes to warm the shop up, and how long it stays warm.
I was going to do this exact thing to my father's garage door back in the day, but found a great deal on a brand-new garage door that was already insulated. I also put in a jackshaft door opener rather than the headroom-hogging "normal" kind of opener.
If you do put foam inserts in the door panels, check your door balance afterwards. unhook the opener (if there is one) and move the door down about halfway. it should stay in place. If it slowly moves down, you may need to add more turns to the springs. If you do have an opener, NOT re-balancing the door can make it prematurely fail.

"There's a hierarchy of insanity in motor sports. Normal people think all racers are crazy. Folks who race sedans think people in open-wheel cars are nuts. People who race cars of any kind think motorcycle racers are absolutely off theirs meds. just be careful when winding the springs, with torsion springs. If you are not careful, you can kill yourself. LOTS of energy in a torsion spring, and turning with a giant metal rod that can do bad things to your skulll.. If you have extension springs, they can actually do even more damage, because lots of times they're not tethered with a thru-cable, and when they break, they can literally knock holes in brick walls.
I just had a torsion spring break on my garage last saturday night. fookin' thing sounded like the whole garage door exploded. I am SUPER lucky that the door was closed at the time, because a 164lb garage door falling from 8 feet in the air makes for an expensive repair.
I really like the fact that I have the EZ-Set type springs, which have a special winding mechanism on them that i just chuck up a 7/16" socket in the drill, and start turning.

... nothing
Tweaked my back real good on Tuesday. Avoided the dayjob Wed as I could hardly move without wanted to scream. Today, better, but not good still. So, I turned up the heat.
Girlfriend got the fire working, so now I decided to give it a test burn.
This bad boy howls!
On a side note, after taking this pic.. It hit me.. I should consider removing the front end so it's easier to mess around in there.. Because, why not...?1992 Ultra Blue Metallic EGT - The 'scort with no name - crap>reliable daily>rallycross prep>stage rally

the worst part is always trying to figure out where to put the bumper when you have it off. at least the GT has a hatch so you can probably fold the seats down and jam it in there.
also, ****, I didn't even notice because I was posting on my phone, but more pics of dog pleasesigpic

Got all A/C out of the engine bay finally. Those quick release things were not that quick, even with the tool. Moved Cruise control box out of the way for the meantime. Will plan on an alternative reservoir for fluids, so for the moment, Wiper fluid and Coolant Reservoir have been removed.
Meet Cosworth. Just shy of 2 years old, he's experienced Stage rally multiple times, likes to bark at loud cars, doesn't know how to not whine/wimper and loves everyone and everything!! He's a mut.. No idea what of, but the girlfriend SWEARS there is no Rotty in him...*shrug*
He's an awesome puppydawg!
Ok, question.. are these things like a Ground hub?
And i'm SO tired of finding things that have been wrong with this car.. Freaking people... I swear (picture got resized twice.. not sure what happened... The wire is TOAST!!! Not entirely sure where it went again at the moment.
One more pic of Cosy. Staying warm with me

That blown up wire looks like the two terminal alternator plug.
Valve cover gasket is leaking on the BG again.
Old one is about two years old. I hope I can get away with re RVT-ing it.
Other than a cold start rough idle issue car has been running great.Beater=/= Sleeper

Just a tip, after bending the tips of the fenders on previous EGT's i often will remove the fenders too whenever I'm doing a project involved enough to have the bumpers and lights off. Very easy to catch clothing on the tips of the fenders, or lean on them by accident, etc.Escort GTR -- 11.87 @ 117.6 mph -- 320 HP / 325 Ft. Lbs. @ 23 PSI
