I didn't do any measurements on the pads, but I'd say they have about 20% more surface area. The EGT piston, being 31mm is 6.8% larger than the mx3/gtx's 30mm piston.

Probe is misfiring badly and hitting boost cut, so I drove it into a BG because I am full of hate.

technically it was an EC but close enough

Pulled the useless rear muffler out from under the car. It was rusted around where the piping was welded to the muffler. I'm just going to get a turn down to slip over the end.

good to know! So your rear calipers have a solid or hollow piston? I remember my MX3s were solid...well maybe hollow, but had a solid face lol

we should throw that info in a thread to have it stickied, I wouldn't have thought the GTX rear calipers would have been the same as MX-3 lol, cool beans. Be sweet if you had a spare FWD BG rear caliper to compare to see if they're actually MX-3 calipers, since I remember the mounting points being different between the two.

The EGT and MX3 rear calipers have the same mounting points. The rear disc spindles that will be going in my car are from an MX3 and EGT calipers fit on there fine. The mounting points are the same.

I will also add that the calipers I will be using for my rear disc conversion are 3rd gen escort ones, again the caliper is slightly different on these as well, but it shares the same pads as the Miata and the same mounting points as the EGT/MX3 ones.

Put my gtr grill on. Getting the bumper fixed and painted when I get back from vacation, so I figured I'd get the grill painted at the same time...
Edit: the bumper is a lot worse than the picture shows.

I dont have any side by side to compare. Only reason I found this out was because I was checking on Rockauto for pads to fit the 3rd gen calipers and saw it listed them as fitting 94-2005 Miatas in addition to the 97-2003 escorts. What ever you find on Rockauto for pictures is all we can compare for now.

I was honestly very surprised to find rear disc on a 3rd gen escort let alone one of the sedans, so after making sure they bolted up and the parking brake cables would work on them on an EGT in the same yard, I grabbed them because they were very clean, almost brand new.

Funny i was just checking the pics as I was posting this and it says the EGT pads also fit 90-93 Miatas.

Anyway here are some comparison pictures I stole from Rockauto:

My pads were certainly different than both of those. I just finished the rear brakes 10 minutes ago, and can confirm the GTX uses Mx3 rear brakes.
