You'll be fine Brody. If you have to; a 1" tubular "X" in each door would still weigh less than a door frame with hinges and latches, but I doubt it'd be necessary with a cage. Look at how gutted Jim's Doors are... no structure there, and he builds real race cars for a living.

True. Forgot about Jim's cars. Now I just have to worry about the pillars for crash strength. Lots of bumping and rubbing in the races, and don't want the pillars to get pushed in to far. Maybe I can make a brace or something that will go from the pillar to the roll cage....

And I just thought about this all and I just figured out that I will have to replace the skins every few races as they won't be as strong. What I think I'm going to do is trace out the door skins on a piece of paper and keep the papers in case I need to replace them. That way I can just trace the lines from the paper onto some sheet metal and just replace them.

Also, I just test fitted my late model bumper today and I decided I'm not going to use it on my current race car, as there isn't any good way to support the cover with my current bumper. I think I will be using a stock bumper cover with an air dam that goes down the rest of the way. And then block off the headlight opening on the passenger side and the grill, and then make a ram air box on the driver side. Which I'd need to be removable, as I can't run ram air on the dirt track, as it would force all the mud in and plug my filter. lol.

Both of your ideas sound good. Tie-ing the pillars to the cage in a few places would be a good idea for strength. Got room for a few cross bars? Rigidity will help in your safety and handling as well...

Seafoamed mine today and bought four BKR6E11 V-Powers. I'm trying to get rid of a persistant miss under load. I'll install the spark plugs after it cools for a few hours.

Well I took out plug #1 and it was dripping with oil. Found my miss. The other three were okay. Now to paint the valve cover and put a new gasket on it. Then put in my new plugs and all should be good. Except for the three plug wires that disembowled themselvs on their way out. I don't have money for new wires, so I'm not sure what I'll do about that yet.

Does anybody make plug wires that are removable? Or that don't fall apart during use? I'd like to find some. I've heard good things about Taylor, but I'm not sure where to get them.

Is this what I'm looking for? I assume I'll have to cut them to fit and put the boots on one side since they're universal. Is that right?

I need to have this thing running by monday morning too because it has an appointment for AC work that I don't want to postpone again.

ahh! damn dude that sucks! I've had a few wires fall apart on me as well did it complete sheer the ignition cable? or just yank the ends off? Because you can attach the ends if you're careful about it, as I've managed to do that in the past from the same experience...got my to where I needed to go lol.

^^ Agreed. You may be able to save them for a while. Pull the end clips out, push the wire through the boot, re-crimp the ends on the wire and carefully push the end clip back into position into the boot; don't pull the wire to accomplish...

Umm, what part of the plug was oil soaked? The threads or the actual electrode? If its the threads then that's pretty much a vc gasket but if it was the tip then you have bigger problems.

Yeah it's the plastic sleeves that let go of the wires. I'll try pushing them through. #4 has some a little slice in the insulation too. I'll seal that with RTV and hope for the best.

                            Thanks guys.

Threads were oil soaked. The socket had about 3/4" of oil on it when I pulled it out of the well too. It seems to have leaked down past the crush washer and fouled the electrode from above. Also the two VC bolts on the oil cap side edge were not even hand tight when I took them off. Weird.

I have a problem with the wife's car need a diagnosis... car is overheating, overflow is blowing bubbles, heat gauge rising to top. Let engine cool down, replace lost coolant, start it idle it, no splashes or bubbles at idle... until thermostat opens. then it pops coolant...close it, let it cool, open cap refill a bit, reservoir is good... close everything up go for a run, she heats right up. get home, I can feel intermittent bumps in the rad. overflow is spewing steam.... bumps are exhaust gases from combustion chamber as in blown head gasket or cracked head? is head gasket a for sure or could it be as simple as the cap?

I think if the heat gauge is steady it's a cap, but if heat rises like crazy, it's a head gasket...but I think steam can make a coolant temp sensor go wacko... no oil in coolant or coolant in oil...

                              whadya think?
Phew!! turns out it was the thermostat... it was staying stuck half open. Found out that had it been the head gasket it would blow coolant thru the rad even when cold... Mine only did it when it got hot. So I changed the cap and t stat, and everything's fine. One note All suppliers offered a smaller t stat than the one I had in the engine... diameter was the same, shorter one's opening was off center... works good nonetheless...check out the difference!

Well, I think I got my spark wires stuffed back in their tubes and ready to go. I haven't been able to test them yet. My valve cover has a new gasket on it and is covered in flat black high temperature paint which is drying at the moment. My new plugs are in, and in about 35 minutes I'm going to put everything back together and (hopefully) run it to cure the paint. Everything should be done by or before one o'clock.
