    Just read something VERY interesting!

    I was just reading the latest issue of Muscle Mustangs & Fast Fords magazine last night, and saw an interesting statement in a 10 page article about Ford's SVT's (Special Vehicle Team) 20 year anniversary. (The article was explaining the history of SVT.) The following statement was made by Neil Ressler, one of the original guys in the SVT team. He said:

    "We had a turbocharged Escort with all-wheel drive and an engine that made 330 hp. That would have been great fun, but it was going to be expensive."

    The article says that it was a potential svt product that never made it into production. I wonder what ever happened to it? There aren't any pictures of it in the article, and they didn't mention it again after that. I'm guessing it used a mazda 4wd system, and a bpt engine, but I'm not sure. I'm going to do some research on this. It's got me very interested. Has anyone else ever heard about this escort? If so, please share what you know about it.

    I know they had an orange concept car that never saw production, and I knew about the ZX2 "RS" which came turbocharged, but obviously never saw production either lol.

          From the way they made it sound, this was in 1993, when svt first started, and the zx2 wasn't around then, so I don't think it was a zx2. And if the orange car was a zx2, I think you're thinking of the ZX2nr concept. But if it wasn't a zx2, do you have any more info on the car?

          yeah, the cosworth uses seirra parts, so that couldn't be what they were using. I'm almost 100% sure they used a bpt in this prototype.

              I remember a scanned article about it somebody posted here a long time ago, so you don't sound crazy to me. Small comfort I'm sure.
