coolant temps will of course be similiar, i'm talking about exhaust temps and oil temps.

a 15w50 is a good oil for our cars in the summer. My pressure is within spec with this oil.

i'm not talking about the viscosity so much as if the oil is designed for gasoline vs diesel.

i run 0w40 mobil one at the moment

50 might be a bit too thick, but i'm no expert

50 weight is not an issue on a turbo car with the kind of clearances we have in our engines.

The Rotella T synthetic 5w40 is an excellent oil to run in these engines due mostly in part to the additives like Zinc. Which has dropped off significantly in the past few years. Since our cars are 20 years old the bearings like the levels of zinc the oil had 20 years ago, which it lacks today. CL-4 plus is what your looking for Iirc. It's a great TURBO oil.

Its not just for diesel but gas engines too.

the guys over at Bobistheoilguy.com highly recommend it. These guys will tell you more about oil than you'll ever care to know!

I friend of mine geeked out for over a month trying to find the perfect oil for the GTX and this one of his top 3 picks.

Plus it's affordable! Walmart sells it by the gallon.

Give it a try. I was running mobil 1 syn 0w30...I made the switch. The HLA's quieted down and I'm never going back.

a synthetic 5w40 sounds like a better option... i thought he was talking about the plain old rotella non synth.

perhaps i'll give it a shot. is it a REAL synthetic, or a "fake" synthetic like mobil one, valvoline, etc.
