SuperPro® Front Lower Control Arm- rear bushing install
Hi Guys
Just thought I would add a short note to this great post.
I decided to upgrade the stock bushes today to the SPF2417K.
it took forever to find a set but managed to track them down after several emails and phone calls.
back on topic
did the left hand side no problem but when I tried to press the right hand bush into its mounting it just dropped straight through.
it would seem there are several different sizes maybe due to aftermarket manufacturers or models.
the left hand side was indeed 46mm but the right hand side is more like 47.5mm.
I plan to try and get another RLCA tomorrow ,but people should be aware that if you do plan on doing you bushes allow some extra time in case you need to source extra parts.
i have a problem with my bushings. i have mx3 LCAs i am putting on my escort. there appears to be an extra sleeve on the bracket itself. it seems that i might be able to reuse this bracket anyways, just leave that sleeve in. but i think that the small surface area that the bushing will actually hold wont be enough
*edit* whoops i was holding the wrong bushing, the one that goes in the bracket is smaller
I know this is a old thread . I'm just curious if you ever did an alignment after putting those bushings in. How much caster did it actually give you? I'd be happy if it can add 1 degree of positive caster. I'm currently at 1.2 d/s and 1.3 p/s after rotating the strut mount for the most caster
^ rotating the upper strut mount won't really do jack for increasing castor- the mount is rubber & has a good amount of play nullifying any change you alter @ top.
Im not sure how many degrees of castor are added from the superpro bushings.
Honestly if you can afford to wait for 2 months i would jump on the spherical LCA bushings im making. increased castor(slightly more then superpro bushings) & zero deflection.
Search the group-buy section for more informaiton
I did an alignment before and after rotating the strut mounts. I actually gained .4 degree caster on the left and .3 degree on the right . Isnt spherical bushings pretty much solid metal? I think i'll stick to the poly ones since they are relatively softer for comfort. I'm not really building a race car.
