EGT's are in reality pretty rare everywhere i mean only 6 percent or the escorts made had the bp in them. so about 5 percent were egt's the other one being lx-e so not easy to find in reality.

here is a tip for all you guys.

ALL BG chassis cars have the same spline count at the hub. this includes lx and gt escorts, and 3rd gen escorts (lx, se, and zx2).

what this means is... if you want to put the bigger front brakes on your 323 or protege DX, you can use the complete spindle and caliper from any 3rd gen escort or tracer.

OR you can use the spindle and caliper from any 2nd gen escort that has the larger brakes (its not just the GTs..). any escort that came with 14" or 15" wheels stock, has the larger front brakes. my old escort wagon had the bigger brakes, so did my cousin's tracer wagon.

the only issue comes in when you are looking for a rear disc brake conversion... you'll have to find a BP powered car to get that.

If that were the case then the calipers, rotors, etc. would fit from a zx2/3rd gen escort but i don't think they do!

went to the junkyard. Was very cold and raining so i didn't spend too much time. Didn't find any 2nd gens, only escort 2nd gens and 3rd gens, no EGT, almost no Pros. The front brakes on the escorts look much bigger but i didn't try fitting them on a pro eventhough i'm pretty sure they will fit by the looks of it. Most escorts had their rear struts removed but the few there appeared to have beefier springs on them... still to investigate. If next week end is nice, i'll go again and grab the front assemblies, forgot to bring a 32mm socket this time to remove the axles.

The rears are indeed a problem. None has disc brakes. Will wait for an egt to show up at the yard. Only seen one contour with discs but guess what, the contours are 4 gen fords, eventhough they look like 3rd gen escorts, with a totally different suspension.

yup contours have a ford chassis and a different lug pattern. same as the focus and first gen escort.

the only 3rd gen escort that had rear discs was the very rare zx2 s/r. so like i said, you have to find a BP powered car to get rear discs

i suppose you could get them from an mx3 GS with the 1.8 v6 also.

The MX3 uses a different assembly, the calipers are different. I heard that the Pro and EGT rear disc assembly is better then the MX3. Yes you're right, has to be ZX2 sr or EGT. I'll keep on looking

i know the mx3 is different, but it should still bolt up. not sure about it being better/worse though.

It was in a pretty bad front end accident, so I wonder if it's even good.
