That really doesn't make any sense, if the mount sits in the body the same BG VS BJ why do you have to use the BJ strut mount. less the strut shaft diameter is totally different.
i can understand using the 3rd gen upper perch & bearing to work with the spring/strut combo but not the mount.

Your right you dont need the upper mounts to run 3rd gen springs, but i did because my old ones were bad. in mycase all i really needed was the upper perch/bearing assembly.

BUT... the 3rd gen strut shaft is a bigger diameter, so if anyone plans to use 3rdgen struts then be sure to get the upper mounts also.

MX6 and 3rd Gen Proteges have the same strut measurements for the mounting points. This is really good news. It means I'll be able to have AWR make me a custom set of coilovers using their BJ housings. I'm thinking single adjustable fronts and double adjustable rears. I'll just have them modify the rear lower mounting plates before they build the strut and they can leave off the swaybar brackets.

I paid over $2,000 for the set on my Protege5. They custom build the bodies and then use Koni or Bilstien inserts. They also come with camber plates.

I'm new to the suspension world here and I'm gonna ask a newb question... what does a stiffer strut do for handling?

I have a set of front MS upper strut mounts, but just some aftermarket stock ones for the rear... should I upgrade to a Moog or something better?

upgrade to camber plates & get rid of the rubber all together.

that's what I love about this board...no one person knows it all!
Springs support the weight of the car, but do nothing for the bouncing. That's what struts control. They keep the tire on the ground. Ever tried to move a strut fast or slow? its easier when it's slow. stiffer struts decrease the rebound and "pogo" effect. that's the simplest explanation I can think of.
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

what im really curious is the measured diameter difference betweent he strutshafts.... I HIGHLY doubt i'll halve problems using my current cusco camber plates with them I do really want to know freelength spring difference tho. how much of a ride height change it would be is very important to me... i k now the newer cars are rediculous in that sense.

                              Ahhhhh!... thanks.

One more newb question and that's it for me, and what does a stiffer "Strut Mount" do for the handling?
