I believe the balljoint offset is the reason they suggest using the larger RX-7(I think some later BG's used the same size) balljoint. I can't exactly take my spindle off and test fit it now(I'd rather not screw with the setup on my only functional car right now, and I'd have to make a pretty long trip to get to my Probe parts car and get the spindle anyway), but as soon as I've can get a small truck or something for a parts hauler/wintermobile, I'll try swapping them and take some pics. If they fit and don't seem to negatively affect anything, I'll try getting the Subaru calipers and test fit those. If that works, I'll look for some 11" Mazda 6 rotors and test that out. If the rear GD spindles/brakes work, I'll just throw a stock set of those one the rear, it'll be a considerable upgrade over my drums anyway.

....You just reminded me how horrible a time I had replacing my Escort's balljoints. I shudder to think how tough it'll be with that offset. I'll still do the test fit, but for the finished product I might just wuss out and do the Astina front spindles and all MX-3 GS rear stuff.Originally posted by bogautdiggin the 2-lug swap lol

I've confused myself now, I can use Astina spindles with 28-spline MX-3 axles right?Originally posted by bogautdiggin the 2-lug swap lol

Really? Weird.. But the point is, shouldn't cause a problem with using the spindles right? On another note, I'm looking at the difference in the BG and GD spindles, and I find myself wondering if it wouldn't just be easier to get a nice thick chunk of steel and machine out a bracket to allow the Subaru caliper to mount up. The link posted to that guy on MX-3.com doing a custom BBK had a nice pic that shows me pretty much exactly what kind of space I'd have to work with. I think for me that'd be the best choice, so I don't have to source Astina spindles in the unlikely event they break.Originally posted by bogautdiggin the 2-lug swap lol

negligence would be the only cause to breaking a astina hub.---Has ClubProtege helped you in someway? show your support by Contributing--- Click Here---

Yeah I'd heard that you'd need to run probe struts. Since I don't have those(the ones on my parts car are blown), and all this mixing and matching is getting crazy confusing, I'm just gonna save for BA Astina front spindles and do the 2-pot front and use MX-3 rears. I think just having discs over drums in the back will be upgrade enough.Originally posted by bogautdiggin the 2-lug swap lol
