    Brake Pad Question

Guys, I have a question regarding brake pads, hawk pads are supposed to great pads but geebus are they ever dirty. I have had it with cleaning black brake dust off my wheels every time I drive the friggen car. So my question, what is a good pad that doesn't give off a lot of black ****.

i was going to go with the satisfied gransport pads, they are on tirerack and cheaper than the hawk ones. they have the same dust rating, but it doesnt matter to me.

If you go to a pad that puts out less dust, you will also get less stopping power. It's in the nature of these friction materials to wear. If you'd rather have less dust, be prepared to drive more sedately and take longer distances to slow down from the same speeds. you could try a ceramic compound, some of them are less dusty.

Personally, I'd much rather have the ability to stop on a dime in an emergency, and have to clean my rims once a week, than have shiny rims, but a totalled out car because I couldn't stop in time.

Plus, it's totally cool to see a car doing 120 jam on the brakes coming into a corner, and seeing brake dust billowing out of the rim, and glowing rotors behind it!

        I like pie.

And porterfield RS4 for the street. They don't dirty things up too badly either.

where do you find Porterfield pads for our cars? I don't think I've ever seen them anywhere.

Call em up and ask... Unfortunately I can't be of any more help than that, since both my cars have GTR calipers. Hah hah, try finding pads for those. I solved my problem by sending a dead pad to them and they made me some custom ones for the fronts... and 1stgen RX7 rear pads fit the rear calipers just fine. I'll ask around, it may be that there are similar solutions to finding pads for the stock protege calipers as well.

The KVRs on my car are very low dust and decent stopping power. Better than cheapies, but not as strong as I'd like. I'll try some Hawks later this year and post some impressions.

Yeah I had KVR pads before, might go back to them, I got a deal on the hawk pads that is why I put them on. To tell the truth I don't notice any difference between the KVR and Hawk.

When every I change brake pads on a girlfriends car I use
Bendix ceramic pads. They hardly dust at all and bite pretty well.

I don't run them personally because I don't like ceramic pads.
