91EGT PSrack into 94LX hatchback? Will it work?

I have a PS rack and pinion from a 1991 EGT and I was wondering if I can install it on my friend's 94 Escort LX hatch? The brackets seem slightly different however I think they are the same. Are they?

To answer your question, yes, the racks should be the same.

early 91's actually use mazda protege racks, which use different brackets and possibly different lines.

Was that ever conclusively proved, I've owned two 91's one I believe to be early and never had a mazda rack.

my 91 GT had a mazda rack... smooth black steel tube vs. the normal ford cast aluminum housing. i'd take a picture for ya but it went to the junkyard last fall...

the mounting brackets and bushings are different, i discovered this "issue" the first time i pulled the motor. i had some ES poly rack bushings that i wanted to install, as i really liked how they tightened up the steering on the 95. once i got in there i quickly realized what the problem was.

what about the 91 1/2's caymen editons? iv had 2 of them and i think they are ford racks

like i said it seems to be early 91's only. if you go to the parts store they will even ask you for your vin or at least what type of inner tie rods you need as they are different.
