Stover nuts for front control arm

I installed poly bushing in my front control arms about a year ago, I'm getting ready to pull them for greasing and general inspection. I've noticed that the stock nuts have backed out slightly, and have given them a couple of 1/4 turns for safety sake a few times.

It's important to not over torque those nuts as it will worsen the binding that can be an issue with poly.

I was thinking about nyloc at first but the close proximity of the exhaust and a quick temp reading of the area sitting puts it in the likely around 400º range when beating on it. So I'd rather avoid buying one time use nuts that won't even work the first time.

Does anyone see any possible cons of running stover nuts, aside from the pain in the ass install/removal of them?

Also I suppose finding them in the proper class/size will be a bother as well. I think they're m12x 1.25.

I also wonder if it would then be optimal to remove the spring washer or to lower the factory torque setting. I honestly think I had to go a bit below factory spec anyway to get a smooth moving arm anyway.

I have never had the nuts back off, the lock washer always worked fine. I hardly see your bushing or shell/nut etc... getting to 400 degrees so I am sure nylock will work fine. You can always try it first since they can be found easily enough at a hardware store and are not that expensive.

As a dated follow up to this, stover nuts are not a good choice for this application as after one install and removal the control arm threads were visibly damaged from the threading of the nut.
I am now running class 10.9 Nylon-lock nuts for about 4 years with no issue.

Most Nyloc are rated up to 250ºF and they seem to plateau at about 150º on hot days and the car being beaten on.
