Maybe? Haha, I'm not sure now. It came off a 2nd gen. Doesn't mean it was oriiginal, though.

did you started working on the rusty parts? i don't wanna see you're car's rear like my 323S that i have for spare parts xD

I wish I had a car for spare parts No second gens in any junkyards around here. There's a couple for sale, but I'm not paying $2,000-$3,000 for a parts car, haha. And no, I haven't started on the rust wells yet. Hopefully I can get them at least cleaned up while the engine is out and I'm doing about 13,000 other little things, haha.

Note to self: need to stop posting from my phone. Damned autocorrect gets me every time.

$600 Romanian? That's about $210 US. Nice deal, haha.

I thought I already asked this, but I guess not. Anyway, the two connectors for the two clutch switches are already wired in and the connectors clipped up and out of the way under the dash. Mostly asking about the clutch safety switch, do I need to do any wiring to the automatic harness or just plug in the safety switch and get going?

I connected the switches to help the explanation a little bit.

Was going to get the speedo gear off the old diff today, but look what I found...

So, this thing can't be used. Not sure how it happened. Maybe the diff slipped when my dad was removing the rivets, don't know. Can I get just this gear? Or anyone have one they're willing to let go of?

you can buy that gear new from mazda. its like $8. however you can file those smooth & still use it if you have to. best of luck pulling it off now without the bearing cage tho, whoeer tred pulling it must not of used the proper tools

Okay, cool. And yeah, I can thank my brother for all that. He's got his own car so I don't know why he's working on my stuff. He also bolted the ring gear to the diff already. No I have to find out if he used any threadlocker, ugh.

                          Update:
Slow progress, but got the speedo gear on the new diff.

Because the bearing cage was gone, this is how I got it off:

Cleaned up the crushed teeth on the speedo gear. A little flat on top and this on the sides, but I spun the gear in the case against the speedo sensor gear and seems to turn smoothly. Any opions? Use this or get a new one?

They look like they still bbulge out into the valleys between the teeth, but it's just an illusion. They're just flattened.

how wide are the speedo teeth? if they are narrower than the ring it might be an issue, but if they are meshed correctly and are just as wide or wider than the ring i don't think it would be a problem. there isn't a ton of force being put on the teeth like there would be on a cam gear or a transmission gear...

It seems to mesh just fine when I put the gear in the case and spun it by hand. Whether or not it was in the exact location it should be, I'm not sure. But resting the gear on the inside of the case and spinning it, it turned fine. I just want to make sure before I put the new bearing on.
