yup. most KL ecu's have the same case that BP ecu's have. so they have the 2 holes on each corner to mount the brackets too. plus the ODB1 KL's have 3 plugs for the ecu. then the ODB2 ones have 4 plug's. since those have the ATX functions controlled also internally. (the ODB1 cars had a separate ecu for the atx controls, hence why they only had 3 plugs)

If I get a chance to get out to the local yard I'll check if it matches the 99 MTX KLG4 there lol

I have a 1998 protege, 1.5 engine with dual cam. My car can't go past 80. Sometimes I try and it goes 85 but other than that I can't seem to get it higher than that. It revs up really really high. What could be the problem? Or is that normal?

        Comment

Is at automatic or manual? If it's automatic, make sure your overdrive is working properly. If you can ft the engine to rev up to redline, or close to it, while in park or neutral then it's probably transmission related. Is the check engine light on? If not, scan it anyway, sometimes a code will be stored but the light won't come on.

          Also, welcome to ClubProtege.

Thank you . And no it's a manual. The engine light is also on but the speed has been this way since ive first gotten the car a year ago.

Check for codes then and let us know what comes up.

Need to replace the windshield. There's a crack in the bottom-left corner where the inspection and registration stickers are. It wasn't there Friday night after work, I noticed it the next morning, though. I actually don't know when it happened. It's just barely noticeable from outside, and on top of the stickers, you can't see it at all. Inside you can see it, though.

You can see the crack to the left of the registration sticker, going down to the corner where that little white mark is. Got an appointment at Safelite tomorrow to replace it, $320 down the drain Safety first, though.

On a side note, I haven't been under the hood in a while, I feel bad, haha.

Wah, the yard I found wants $650 I think. Plus shipping of course. That $700 doesn't include shipping does it?

Just to have something different. Everyone does a DE or ZE, but I haven't seen a G4 swap, especially in a BH. My plan is to rebuild it, bore it .040 with higher compression pistons. Anything lightweight I can find or have made, ported manifold and heads, etc, etc.

ZE is old news lol, personally I'd rather a KLG4. It's the last KL revision Mazda did, and I think they nailed it personally. WAY better engine management, better flowing intake/heads, and not to mention the stupid light crank to help get those revs going!
