    redline 6500 rpm ???

I was looking inside a 2nd gen protege ES and i realized that the redline in this model is 6500.

my question now is why is that ??

is the same BP as 1st generation..so why not rev it until 7K ????

thats because that particular model you were looking at doesent have the BP

    the Z5 rev's to 6500
    the BP rev's to 7000

I thought that 2nd gens ES 1.8 liter was BP?

ya but in canada you could get an es with a z5.... i believe

it might be the same with the panama?

and for bp1.8, your revlimiter is at 7800... but your redline is 7000
          right?

In Canada the 1.5l car is SE, not ES, and LX is the one with 1.8 liter.

correct on the revs, I generally don't rev past 7400, but I've hit the limiter once or twice.

My tach shows redline at 7000. Supposedly the rev limiter is like 7200. When mine hits the rev limiter the tach shows ~74-7500, but that is inaccurate. The best way to have an accurate tach would be to hook something up right to a plug wire the way you do with a timing light.

no. Has he replaced the gauge cluster?

edit: anyone else notice the seller calls it an EX? when it says ES right on the side . . .
