    Repost of 70mm MAS Install

I figured I post this in this forum also because everyone here has Mass Air Flow meters.

I received my 70mm cobra mas sensor Friday.
Just wanted people to see the difference in the cobra meter and the stock meter.
As you can tell it is dramatic. I know my engine was starving for air with that stock thing.
After installation of the new meter I could immediately tell the difference on the butt dyno.
Not to be content with that reading I took out my trusty g-tech pro.I measured before and after 0-60 times and 1/4 mi.The 1/4 times and mph are in the ball park of what the car should be capable of running. So dont go and flame me i know its not the real thing.I wont know that until I go back to the track.

But my 0-60 was a 7.10 previous best it dropped to a 6.74 with the new meter.
    The 1/4 mil previous was a 15.36 @ 92.3 mph the new 1/4 after installation was a 15.19 @ 93.6 mph.
Like I said The dragstrip numbers are just something to measure any performance increase.
However the 0-60 times are pretty accurate.
For ****s and giggles I timed a 60-0 braking distance my distance was a whopping 140 ft.I figure that was decent for a car with stock brake rotors and pads.

This week I will be getting a new intake that measure 2.5 in. The Weapon R intake I now have is 3 in.
2.5 in is plenty big for a n/a 1.8 dohc motor. I hope to be getting some hp from doing that also.
Ofcourse I will be going back to the dyno to measure any gains attributed to the intake and the cobra MAF.

I had to send my stock meter and air box to pro-m and they calibrated the meter to my car with the stock injectors. they also sent me a harnes to splice into my factory so the meter would work.It work perfectly and I did not get that pesky CEL from my OBD II.

For comparison sake the cold air intake on my mustang is 4 inches in diameter.I have a 80 mm MAS sensor on that with a 75 mm throttlebody.

So what's the diff between a Mass Air Sensor (MAS) and a Mass Air Flow(MAF) Sensor, or are they the same thing?

If 2nd gen pros can have this mod done by cobra and get some performance gains, could you post some cobra contact info for anyone interested.

edit: Can't believe I called the MAF a mass air filter. Must've been tired or something. Thanx intruder.

MAF = Mass Air Flow. Not Filter.

I think the stock mas size for a bp is 55mm.

I got it from http://www.pro-flow.com/index.html. You have to send in your stock meter along with the stock airbox and tubing. What they do is calibrate the new maf for use with your stock setup. You can also get a 75mm if you so choose. I thought that was way too big for a 1.8 liter motor so I opted for the 70mm version.

When you get it you will have to drill a hole in your intake tubing for the iat sensor. This is built in the factory meter but when you go aftermarket its seperate.
Then you splice into the factory wiring harness.
Mount the meter and plug it in.
If you dont get a CEL you did it right.
