    1st gen motor in a 2nd gen's body

Not exactly sure if this is the right place to post this, but I have been wondering about this for a good while now and cant seem to find anything on this. Would a 1st gen (BG) 1.8l BP be able to fit and work in a 2nd gen protege? The motor has a GTX ECU and a wiring harness along with it? What would be some of the issues that could arise?

    Thanks!

Off the top of my head, digital versus analog speedo. Dash harness might not be compatible either.

I would say it would be a drop in minus working out the harness issues, gtx ecu might not be the way to go, i would say find a obd2 bp harness and run a piggy back, that way most of the harness would come close to plug and play.
Either way should be doable, just need to find pin out for the harness and switch over pigtails.

I say go for it if you have the ambition and funds.

No emissions then I'd piggyback an MS onto the factory harness and let the factory ecu handle everything besides fuel and spark.

You may need to rob a kia bp for parts

Also is your BH a BP car already?

hmm, i might have funds if i go this route, how much would roughly the entire MS run me + hook up?

the 2nd gen is an LX, so it has the 1.5l Z5 thing in it

probably 4-500, which im guestamting on the high side. you may want to look into the Kia BP engine harness and see if it matches up with the BH body harness. that would save you alot of trouble
