    Throttle body cleaning gone wrong..?

Hey guys I recently got a 1998 mazda protege and I had the ole idle problem..after seafoaming it was a hell of alot better but still shook and rpms jumped a little between 500 rpm to 1200 rpm so I looked up what else I could do. Well, one of the things was cleaning the throttle body. Ge throttle body spay, open the throttle body, spray a bit, close, spray some more, the wipe. Easy enough right? Well I guess not..I did everything the way people do it. Didnt spray too much maybe about 20 secs of spraying the wiped it down. Decided to start the car right after and it wouldnt stat..It made the sound it usually does when its about to start but doesnt have that final start sound if you know what I mean..tried about twenty mins later tried again and it sounded like it was about to stat but never got there..This mustve been about 30 mins ago so Im just going to try tomorrow and see what happens. Until then, anyone have any possible theories along with ways to fix it..?Sorry just kindof nervous..

Pull sparkplugs and clean em. They may have gotten too wet.
'90 AWD Protege, full GTR drivetrain swap, ~320 whp daily driver, RIP, and
'90 AWD Protege, yet another GTR swap, Open class rallycar with a Toyota GT4 gearbox swap, thus crossing the line between hobby and mental illness. And a Brabus E55 K8, removing all doubt.

are you sure you sprayed the throttle body and not the maf. just to be sure we're on the same page

and did you reconnect all the hoses including the iac ( if a 98 still has that ) .

idle issues are usually egr related or vaccume anyways

i'd kinda recommend removing the throttle body, and cleaning it again. only because this way you can get everywhere. detail the butterfly, and all around where it's null on the body itself. it's not a lot of work to remove it. and scrub it with a tooth brush or something. it's easily worth an hours work

no sweat, just look around it at some of the bolts, should be like 4 around there at each corner. pay attention to whatever plugs in, and the throttle cable is just like removing bicycle brake/gear lines. should be piece of cake to remove. maybe 10 or 12 mm socket

Also, if you haven't already. grab a haynes manual or something for your car. and check it out. many things on your car are great simple learning experiences. just pay attention to what you're undoing. =)

there's probably some coolant lines too that might be a pain in the ass if they've never been removed.
