Three Dashboard Buttons

Hi. My name's Matt.

I have a 97 protege Dx. To the immediate left of the steering wheel there are three black buttons. One to control the rear defroster, one to dim the dash lights, and one is a dummy. Does this button have a function in LX models or any other models? I have taken the button cover off and found that there is a weird switch behind it with five wires coming off it it. I'll be glad to clarify any confusions that I may create.

Fog lamps on models that were equipped with them I think.

You can put a 3rd gen change holder or fog lamp switch in there I believe.

The 3rd button is the cruise control ON/OFF switch.

That makes sense. The wires are there in case someone wants to upgrade to aftermarket cruise control. Thanks!
