Would getting one of those optima yellow top batteries help stop the car from dieing when i turn crap on in the car like the heater and ac wipers?

I dont know but i have the red one, and when i turn on my sound system its start to do what are you saying, maybe changing some wires, ground and a charging system like kansei say can results better. I haven't make any change to mine but the red optima battery make the same effect in my car.'93 Protege DX 5spd'

its not the battery...its the charging system...your drawing too many amps from the battery and the alternator cant keep up with it...you want to look into a higher output alternator...i think ive read ours puts out 70amps.

most altenator rebuild shop should be able to increase the output of your altenator. Just a battery won't cut it . I know my stereo will dim my lights with a soundstream 500 and a punch 150 with the stock alt. Good grounds , caps and a high output alt. will take care of any electrical problems.98 protege lx 1.8l
