You won't believe this 'ish... (K series swap pics)

    It's possible!!!

Does anybody know this guy or have a connection who could get us in contact with him? Go through the site and you'll know what I mean!

So he takes the GTR out of his car so he can install a 2.0 V6?

Of course it's possible, the 1st gen BP will bolt into the 2nd gen if you want to do the custom wiring, so a V6 swap into the same place should be just as possible. If you get an engine from a newer Probe or MX-6 that has OBD-II you should be able to do it. But of course custom work = money.

Did you notice how he cut the hood latch support? It's not as simple as the v6 into a BG.

The second gen has far less space in the engine compartment and he used a Lantis half cut according to the pictures. We didn't get the Lantis here so we don't know if any north american mounts would work.

Ps: KF-ZE = same external dimensions as the KL-ZE. Which is more appealing? 200hp N/A or a little over 200hp turbocharged? We could debate this forever but that's not the point here. You're coming from the BG camp where engine choices are abundant. Those of us stuck with the pathetic Z5 crave better options and this is one of them.

holy mother mary of God! maintenance must be a pita! did you see how far the engine was pushed forward? half of the valve cover was under the front top frame.

I actually just spent the last 2 weeks trying to find someone to import me a Lantis Type R front clip... if I can get one landed on my property within budget i'll try the swap

I found a place overseas that may be able to get it, but it would be difficult as **** to get it transported here

My local importer said the lantis is rare in japan, let alone the type R. He said that he can find me one, however price is undetermined, timeframe is over 4 months, and damage is possible. I'm willing to do this swap but I need the engine to work... and there are a few other details regarding the brakes that need to be sorted out... for the 5 bolt conversion.

Right now the swap is looking unlikely because I dont make enough money to take such a huge risk on something that may land broken for an exorbant price.

here are some wiring diagrams for the KF-ZE even though this wouldnt be the difficult part, the difficult part would just be making sure things physically lined up:

If I were to do this though, I would only use the KF for a year or 2 max, and would end up with a KL-ZE in the longrun... a nicely NA built up 250 whp one... mmmmmmmmm

my apologies for the massive size, but if anyone is actually gonna use these diagrams you actually need to see it... lol

                    Thanks everyone!

Chris, if and when you do this swap, I'm coming over to "help" whether you like it or not. Those diagrams should come in handy.

But seriously, I'm exactly on the same page as you about this. I want a KL-ZE powered sedan eventually. It's going to get done but it depends on when my Z5 gives up the ghost. The little bitch of an engine has to last me long enough to assemble the body components I have planned and then to get the car lowered. After that I'm saving up for a clip and a respray of the whole car for when the Z5 comes out.

I will draw up a new hood latch support member in AutoCAD when I do the swap (or for you Pigeon if you beat me to it). I will have it pick up the stock mounting points for everything like the latch, headlights, and hood prop stick while at the same time extending as far forward as possible in between the headlights. Who needs a grill right? That should allow enough room to at least top up the oil!

I guess a battery relocation and FAL dual slim fans are in my future too. I'll be staying in steelyville until I find out if I have to swap the hubs.

I'm figuring the best way to install the engine would be from the bottom 'cause there's no way it's going in thru the top unless that chassis member is removed! I still can't imagine the rad clearance.

Ya man, i'd defnitely appreciate your help.. you seem to really know what you're doing as well. Mike_moss would prolly swing buy the day it goes into the car too as he's done it before. However, its looking unlikely. I cant get any definite answers on it, and if I find a BP harness before I find concrete answers on the KF swap, im going to have to stick with the BP.... cause the Z5 has gots ta go!

I think he means the HVAC controls. The guy in the link converted from the manual vent controls to digital somehow. Don't ask me how.

So I guess no one knows this guy...? Oh well.
