    is it normal for new pads to rub?

    i put new pads and shoes on the protege today, and all went good. but the front pads seem to rub on the hub-part of the rotor. makes a grinding noise, but its starting to go away. i tried moving the pads but cant. is this normal on these cars? is it just gonna wear itself to normal?
    1997 mazda Protege LX -4 12" subs,clarion DVD player,clarion H/U
    1998 fordF-150 -lowered 6" 20in rims,custom flames,roush side exit exhaust...etc.
    1993 Ford Probe GT -New project.

    hm..weird..never happened to me, you sure you put on the right pads and put them on correctly?

      theres only one way for them to go on...they have the two pins that go through them, with the clips to hold the pins in.

        if you still have the origional pads you might want to compare them, what size rotors are on your pro? If you have the smaller rotors I am thinking you got the pads for the bigger rotors.

          the old pads are the same size. looks like the just ground themselves to form with the hub so they didnt rub anymore. are they any different between the 1.8 and the 1.5? thats the only thing i can think of.

            did you use some brake cleaner when you change your pad to clean the disck??
            if not i think that why.

              yup, i used "brake kleen" or whatever its called. you can actually visually see the pad rub on the hub. there is an arrow pointing to where it is rubbing.

                My guess would be you got the pad's for an ES which have larger brakes, which would accomodate larger pads. the DX and LX have smaller rotors and calipers and that would definitely cause rubbing, if you got the pads installed.

                  oki, i took them back out and compared them. the dumbasses gave me ES pads....so now all is fine. :D
