not sure....but ive had my pro like 2 years and researched everything about them and not once did i find a factory dx with any thing power...

go to protegefaq.com....you might find some info there to put the theory of dx with power to an end...

      page not found.

I must be wrong Ill take your word for it.

      Ok but then woah.

That means the first car I saw, it was um....

It was an ES with DX "fenders" and steel wheels.

Ok fine thats way more likely than it was a DX with an engine transplant anyway. Its weird but the world is weird. It was a car lot car it was one or the other I thought it was the engine switch because it had 160k and the engine was new looking. Just an estimate
It was a salvage title. It was one or the other I think.

But this second one was the same thing? Just seems weird.

If that's true for DX's then we all have to stick our foot in our mouth and shut the freak up starting with me! Well, unless the California thing absolves me.

I did contradict you but why say "in such a manner". Was the nice way too nice? I could have contradicted you by saying: You moron, DX's don't come with power windows! Instead, I used statements like:

I was even correct, even if only on one count, on the above where 95Protege pointed out you saw an LX as a DX. Granted there's the possibility that's only happened once or twice out of the 10 you've seen.

It doesn't matter what we call it. We have to go by what the automotive industry calls it. My dad worked as a body man at dealerships. The order form had "fender" as one of the parts to order for the repair. He would then get the part with one of those DX, LX type logos.

I think it's the fact that the rest of the country seems to be different from your area of the country if you've seen 10 DX's and they've ALL had power windows.

                oh ya

oh the lx sticker becomes unreadable

Its a sticker after all. I can see a car and it looks like dx to me if it deteriorates.

As a matter of fact I bet the seller of that car thinks he has a dx because the sticker on the other side looks like a dx.

I havent seen 10 dxs that i got inside lol. Ive seen um.... 4 now. That I looked at. There is one in particular that parks by home buffet I park next to. I think its a 96. Manual, different color interior. AC power windows different tach.

so in my little world I never even bothered to think about it. Every protege I looked at had power windows I had never heard one wasnt supposed to before.

Ive never seen one with a roll up, lx dx whatever. You can bet the next one I look at Ill notice more.

It could definitely be what Im seeing is rare. Stamars car spotting is not scientific yet at this date.

                ok

Well even if the car said lx it sure didnt say ES. It wasnt an ES. An es has plastic body cladding on it to. Im going to look up some pictures of those too.

nowhere in this review does it say some dx may include power options...

Ok here is the difference in dx and lx...power options... thats the only thing.

Now if a dx had power options would it not be an lx? lx for luxioury....dx for base model meaning no options at all...

                      um

howcome all the other protege dxs have power windows

                      howcome the civic dx does.

                      escort dx.

what other dxs are there its pretty popular.

                      Corrolla DX.

I appreciate your work but, that just shows whats standard. A dx doesnt come with power equipment an lx does. So you pay extra for the dx to have pw.

I mean, Ill take your word for it I guess.

That would make the gen 2 dx protege one of a very short list of cars that they didnt sell pw pdl for.

Try to find a car sold today that doesnt have it.

Its like, heres $500 for $10 in electric motors. NO, WE DO NOT WANT YOUR YANKEE DOG AMERICAN MONEY LEAVE!

That attitude doesnt usually take you too far in the auto business....

also the electric swap is being done by people who otherwise drive their protege stock just for conveince of having the ability of rolling down windows in the back popping the trunk with a button and adjusting mirrors without leaning across the seat..

95Protege, you've gone nuts. If stamar wouldn't have gotten that last post in, you would have posted 6 posts back to back. I'm wondering if some dealer in California back in the mid 90's was ordering the power parts from the factory at some mega-discount and having the mechanics add it to the DX's and then offering it to buyers at a very reduced rate in comparison to the LX. There may even have been a long delay in LX models from the factory so the factory allowed this. I'm starting to suspect that big time. For example, if the LX was $1200 more but the dealership offered this "dealer DX mod" for only $600 more, they could pitch this to people that comparison shop. The trunk release might be the most inconvenient to do or add to much to the labor and price. Something like that could be left as the DX version's. As soon as other dealers got word of this by sending an employee acting as a customer, they would confirm it and start doing the same.
