I've gotten to 115 downhill with 3 others in the car. No engine mods, just 16's on some good rubber. Must say slowing down was not quite fun.

111 or there round abouts. Long strech was needed.
This is my BP. There are many like it but this one is mine. My BP is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I must master my life. Without me, my BP is useless. Without my BP I am useless. I must drive my BP true. I must drive straighter than my enemy, who is trying to beat me. I must beat him before he beats me.

Those of you that know the roads and have used them recently are ok. Now you guys that don't know what's on the road up ahead but just know you're on a long stretch of road you used last year that will is long are retarded. For all you know there's a sudden detour that you will not have the stopping distance to clear. There could be a major hole recently made in the road or a sink hole. A perfect example is a mattress that was on the road while I was going just 55 mph at night. I saw it but did not have the stopping distance due to poor lighting. I had no choice but to run over it and wrecked the A/C. Yes, it was dark but something similar can pop up on you on short notice. At that speed, things just suddenly show up if they are small. Please inspect the road or do this speed on your way back when you are sure the return side is clear.

hawt damn, lost the ac to a bed. totally lame, good thing it didn't take more! finding top speeds for the hell of it isn't a good idea, but I still do it. sometimes, you only live once....115 in the pro, 112 in the grand prix..stupid limiter...
No car! I soldz it. Now I have a truck. I like it, but apparently it has a hard time keeping up with a slightly modified 4WD protege with half the hp. Neat.

i don't know about the US but in Canada there is a speed limiter in our cars. My protege cuts out at 190 km/h or 118 MPH see the attached pic

157 in the escort according the gps with more to go havent tryed the 323 but would guess no problems either being that the whole powertrain is the same and suspension is lower.

                    105. and i sure as hell don't trust that suspension at any higher speed. that poor engine... what was mazda thinking with 92 hp at the crank? gas mileage is nice but not that nice. hell the Toyota Prius has like 200+ Ft Lb Torque and that gets 60 MPG

I doubt you can do 140mph with just the DOHC NA BP motor.

i never go over 100 on the street.. why? i suppose it would be nice to see how fast i can get her up to on a divided highway after an engine build... but anything past 100 is REALLY stupid on public roads... even if you know the area. i do see 100 about once a month... and always in the same place... a divided 3 lane highway ends into an exit onto a closed 3 lane highway... if you get ahead of the trucks you can cut minutes off of your commute plus there are no cops unless they are in traffic.. no place to sit.
miss my '93 LX at every corner
