    anybody into autocross?

    i have been doing some research in it and it looks like a blast. i have a 96 lx and i would like to compete, just for a good time. anyone have any tips r nething? how'd u get started?

    get a rear sway bar.
    Get an alingment.
    add lots of camber.(our cars dont create dynamic camber)
    get killed by civic.

      I think it'd be fun to do autocross. It uses the one thing that you can make our cars do easier. I know with just 16's and good rubber the car handles very well. Add a sport drop suspension, sway bar in the rear, strut bars and take them turns.

        yea im planning on it for this summer, nopi.com has a cheap lookin strutbar i might get. the sway bar will come in the near future, and i'll get an alignment once i get my new shocks/struts n springs. but really im just lookin to have a good time

          There's several of us here that autocross regularly (I'm going tomorrow!!!!!). It's a blast! I'll pass on good advice that other gave me starting out.:

          Seat time (entry fees, fun runs, and schools) > tires > car parts. Spend money in that order.

          - don't worry about buying any car upgrades right away, start out on your street tires for at least your first several races while you're learning. This allows you to start racing right away, and maximizes the fun:dollar ratio
          - Get an inexpensive (<$100) SA2005 or M2005 certified helmet from a local motorcycle or race shop, as loaner helmets may not fit well, may be a bit gross, and running to the loaner bin is a hassle.
          - Seat time is king. Spend money on entry fees and fun runs, not parts, unless you can afford all three.
          - tires are your next upgrade, ask around for what works in your class
          - check the rules for your class before buying performance upgrades that may put you in a class you will not be competitive in or that no one runs, beating 1 other person is no fun. I run stock, and am very familiar with the rules. Lowering spring, larger or wider wheels and strut braces are not stock legal, the classes they are legal in will require much more $$s to be competitive in.           - Check the schedule for an autocross school and be sure to attend, and race as much as you can.
          - Ask for advice and learn from faster drivers. Autocrosses attract some really great, helpful, generous people. Don't be shy in asking the fast drivers (even national champions) to ride with you and give you advise, they'll help you avoid bad habits and learn to go fast. Ask for rides with others to see the course. Ask the fast drivers if you can tag along and listen during course walks- get there early enough to walk the course at least 3 times and attend the novice course walk. Ask tire pressure suggestions.
          - Tell people your racing for the first time, they'll go out of their way to help you know where to be and what to do, and help you have a fun successful race.
