the thermostat housing is held in by a bolt on one side and a stud/nut on the other. My stud broke in half the other day. (of course after we installed the motor lol)
Does anyone know if that stud is replacable? IE Can i heat it up and pull it out of the cyl head. Or does it need to be ground flat and then drilled/tapped.
Im hearing different things depending on who I ask..
Can anyone confirm?
I could have sworn I remember pulling that stud out once when I had an issue like 8 years ago with an old EGT, but so far it has not budged and my buddy is telling me I gotta grind it flat then drill/tap..
what I need confirmed is whether or not the stud is screwed into the head (IE Is the stud replaceable?) or do i need to drill/tap.

I think I can recall pulling that stud before, but I may be thinking of something else. I'd say its 50/50 that I'm thinking it was the BP in my dark green EGT. Sorry not much help... Engine/trans looks good though!

can you cut a slot in it with a dremel heat it up a little with a torch and use an impact screw driver to get it out. my guess is that it will come out without having to drill and retap.
If you can't unscrew it out then grind, drill, retap and install another double threaded bolt. Steel into aluminium is apt for corrosion especially near coolant and who knows; there could be loctite
