Did you remember to check axle positioning. both inline to the hub splines & also left/right to equal the lengths.
short answer yes, the mockup was measured against the 3 other BG's in the yard to make sure everything lines up so far.

pardon my lack of insight. but why compare it to other BG's vs just the BJ itself

we compared both. but since the BP trans differs from the FS we measured the BG to make sure the motor and trans sat as intended (as in stock in a BG) as well as straight in the new (BJ) bay.

Nothing really to update other than I've decided to not use the BG crossmember or the BJ one. I'm thinking about going another route instead.

That's a real possibility once I get to the point of dropping an Evo trans in. For now though, it's just gotta keep the gseries in place.

I'm doing a crossmember delete per say... but I will be adding a skid plate because the trans and engine will be sitting lower in the bay so the transfer case clears the rack on my festiva (which is mounted to the firewall like the 4wd BF/BG's)

here is some inspiration for you. ive been driving my BP MSP since Nov 2010. The rear of my crossmember looks exactly like how you chopped yours, but the front I cut as well and extended out a bit with a new plate welded for the 2 front support bolt holes. Take your time with lining up the axles horizontally and make sure they dont ever touch the subframe or they break.. I did not line up the engine with the stock pass side mount, mine is farther back and I am using the stock MSP shifter linkage to give you an idea of where my drivetrain sits. The G series wont last you long. I have killed many of these trans in Escort GTs and the one in my MSP sure did not last long at all before 2nd gear synchro died. I am swapping a new trans in this weekend with my new T4 turbo setup. You would may want to forget the EVO trans unless you have someone to make you the adaptor plate. The E153 swap is more "common" as the plates are available.

yes this is the advantage to putting the engine far back as well as weight distro etc.

since i have slim fans i can literally stand in my engine bay with room to spare lol

There are a few evo plates floating around according to what Shawn has recently dug up on the net. More detailed specifics have yet to be found however.. I'll have zero problems designing a plate if it comes down to it as I'm no newb to CAD/3D design. I have plenty of shops within range that wouldn't even bat an eye at cutting one for me, it's South Florida after all :D I'm also not new to the gseries game, nor is Shawn this is my 3rd one (fully rebuilt new) which has been for the most part, a super trooper when it comes to the glass gseries. Shawn can attest to the amount of abuse I've put the trans through in the little time that he's seen it be around on the road, and nothing has broke or is failing on me drivetrain wise. Now I'm not saying that after the 320whp mark that its going to stay together for long, but, we shall see. Glass can be very strong and enduring, that is, if you understand and know how to use it properly. As far as putting the engine further back, I don't see that being a good idea at all. I'm keeping the alignment of the engine where it was designed to be all while still having plenty of room up front (and I mean plenty more) for the same setup that I was putting in the EGT. Crossmember is going to be done from scratch when I get more quality time under the front. 95% sure I'll be using 3 of the standard BG mounts/mount locations, the 4th being the driverside BJ tranny/frame mount. I'll be pulling the entire dash harness sometime this week to be hacked up and redone. Yay for minor weight reductions LOL

if you get one cut I want one as well, should help offset some cost.
