pulled all of the guts out of it, compared the thinner ring gear to what was in it (SpenOne is now running the OEM diff from this)
sandblasted the case & wire brushed it to a more "polished" look
while doing so i noticed the clutch fork pivot ball had sheared off. so i grabbed another replacement from a spare transmission i had laying around.

          Piston damage!!!

after pulling the head off. you could clearly see damage from the screws going through the motor.

oddly enough there was no valve/seat damage done (thankfully)

Lightened the OE flywheel down to ~15.3lbs & had it rebalanced.
(sandblasted the friction surface as well- no this does not hurt the disc & its a good cheap alternative if the surface of the flywheel isn't worn)

drove fine for a road trip -
altho issues arose only after i got back:
Drivers side axel seal needs replacement(i didn't change those out---yet)
it smokes on startup now- only after sitting for a good while - stops smoking within a minutes time.
im not sure how long I can handle the smoking issue. so I might have to revisit this whole process all over again

Replaced the Drivers side -transmission seal last night.
no more large puddles of ATF!! yay!!

also removed the PS/AC belt. not sure how much i like it so far. (the lines aren't looped yet... so its still a bit more difficult than it really should be)

^ its not show quality assembly.
Its assembled to be damn sure it never leaks. plus.... once its dried if you're overly fancy.... you can just peel off that excess RTV string & have a clean look.
                          no harm no foul.

oil pump kicked the bucket..... 276K.
seems like all that effort was wasted.

I scored another engine to toss into it.(hopefuly this one has better compression numbers - the last one was 30 points low on all cylinders)

Decided while the car was down. i would attempt to change out the fuel pump built in POS design filter.

2.5hrs worth of careful finess'ing & i managed to get all 8 screws free.
I sure wish these cars weren't as much of a rot box as they are.

the old filter basically poured out mud. Pretty sure a fresh filter will help the fuel economy a bit!!! (at least im hoping so)
