Hello, I'm a very new memeber please help

Hello everyone I own a 2003 P5 and I have put in a cold air intake, alway runs on Plus. But every time I drive it or just do a head on test with some friends my car lag at acceleration... does anyone have any clue how to improve it make it stop lagging? I know at the moment they have not sold the Spark plug wire for my car yet. Or have they?? Well please help me out please.

    Thank You.

    Welcome to the Forum.

When you say, "always runs on plus", if you're referring to the octane rating of the gasoline, it's unnecessary to use that grade. Your car was designed to use 87 octane fuel and anything higher is unnecessary unless you go to FI or high compression pistons.

What kind of CAI do you have? Assuming it was installed correcly (no vacuum or other leaks), the lagging that you mention may be caused by removal of the Helmholtz resonator that is part of the OEM air intake system and is designed to enhance and maintain low-speed torque. If the lagging occurs only in the lower RPM range or off the line but you feel an improvement over stock at higher RPM's, that's a likely cause.

The consensus of the Forum seems to be that as long as your OEM spark plug wires are functioning correctly, replacing them with an aftermarket set will add nothing to the performance of your car. Howver, if you're determined to replace them anyway, Magnecor makes a "high performance" set for your vehicle. Just don't expect to feel a difference if you install them. Check them out at:

Also, as a new member, it's strongly recommended that you read TheMAN's FAQ accessible by clicking on the FAQ category in the Forum's address bar. If you have any other specific questions, try doing a search. You'll be surprised by the amount of useful information that comes up.

    Happy Motoring!

      Major Geek to the Rescur

According to the Happy Mofowing Association the following is suppose to be true even if it is not.

It needs a turbo or NOS (Oh my God he said it)!

When was the last time you did a regular Pep Boys Tune Up?

Since when do you have the car?

Can you post a pic of the engine bay with the Cold Air Intake?

About the gasoline its true, use 87, just watch out for ghost gas stations with cheapo fuel. Dont use any additives or any of that crap.
