    mazdaspeed ecu in my mp3

    i recently purchased a mp3 i got a p2009 obd code i had my local shop go threw it and try to tune it and they came back with i had the wrong year ecu for my car i did some reserch and found out it was MSP018881A ecu so how can i find out if its a mazda speed engine i found a stock mp3 ecu but if i have a msp engine i dont want to waste the 300 on the mp3 ecu thanks for the help and yes the car is turboed

        Edit:.....just saw you were turboed there right at the end...I have to top speed reading posts. You don't want the MP3 ECU with a turbo. The MP3 ECU has advanced timing. What turbo is on the car right now?

        Double edit: The p2009 code is for the VTCS system in the intake manifold that came on every 3rd Gen Protege except the MP3. It's been a while since I've looked at them, but I know the MP3 manifolds didn't have a VTCS system at all and therefore shouldn't even have a solenoid for it. I can't remember if the MP3 wiring harness had a plug for it. If it does it should be right beside the plug for the VICS solenoid on the passenger side of the intake manifold. If there is a plug there than all you need to do is find a VTCS solenoid from any other Protege, plug it in, and cap off the vacuum nipples.
