2003 ES: Ruined Rack and Pinion?

So about a week ago I hit a curb at about 30 in my 2003 Protege ES. It completely bent the lower control arm and had to be replaced. When I replaced the control arm, there didn't appear to be any damage to any other components but after the work was finished, I started my car, turned the wheel to the left and it made a loud screeching noise. The wheel started to offer resistance, then went back to normal, then more resistance and screeching. The wheel is impossible to turn to the right though, it only screeches and resists. When the car is off, the wheels turn just fine with lack of power steering. I've checked all fluids and they're all at normal levels.

sounds like there are some complications with the power steering system.
were any lines running to the rack damaged or crimped?
