1999 Protege 1.6 "Hold" light and no overdrive when hot...

OK basically summed it up in the subject. 1.6 L auto. After driving for 20-30 mins the transmission shifts out of overdrive into 3rd and "hold" light on dash comes on and blinking. I did put a transmission cooler on there but didn't help. I am getting the code that the tranny heat sensor is going off (P1713 Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor Circuit).

This has been going on since I had the car and has done it with old tranny and new (another rebuilt) tranny I put in. I am not sure if this is a coincidence or if the computer is doing it. Ideas?

So I find it hard to believe no one else has this issue?

Is that transmission heat sensor the same sensor used on both transmissions.
