    hello everyone help me

Hi everyone, I know I introduced myself once before but I will once more. My name is Nicholas I recently acquired a 2002 mp5 from my Mom. It has a few problems and that's why she replaced it with a 2006 mazda 3. I haven't messed with a car in a while but I used to have a heavily modified Nissan NX2000 that ran 13.75 at 103 mph all motor and later once I boosted it I was running 11.27 @128 with it. Meanwhile my daily driver was an Infiniti G20 lightly modded with leftover parts from my NX. So all my experience really is with the SR20 motors.

So I just ran my OBD2 scanner on it and came up with a p0421 (warm up catalyst efficiency below threshold) a P0300, and a P0301 (random misfire, and on cyl 1) Also a P1569 (VTCS solenoid valve circuit low input)

The 0421 I believe could be fixed with a header and exhaust with a new cat or test pipe. Or just the plug fouler mod. The misfire codes I believe maybe the coils need replaced because I have done plugs and the goofy little wires from the two coils. Now the 1569 is what I am unsure of. If anyone has advice on that and suggestions based on other knowledge of these cars for the other 3 codes I would appreciate it.

I did just pull the green plug off of the intake mani, and the connector for the red wire is very corroded. Hopefully cleaning this up will fix that 1569 code. the biggest issues really are how rough it runs from the misfires.

P1569: Variable Tumble Control System (VTCS) Solenoid Valve Circuit Low Input

According to the FSM, the possible causes are:
Poor connection of connectors at PCM and/or VTCS solenoid valve

Short to ground in wiring between VTCS solenoid valve terminal B And PCM terminal 73

Open circuit in wiring between main relay terminal D and VTCS solenoid valve terminal A

Open circuit in wiring between VTCS solenoid valve terminal B and PCM terminal 73

      VTCS solenoid valve malfunction

      PCM malfunction

      Happy Motoring!

From what I have read it seems you can just disable this entirely. It may be worth it to just clean the connections up and wire a new ground. Isthere any way to test the coils on this motor?

Pull out the egr and clean it. Make sure it functions properly

Thanks guys, I know the EGR's on SR's were always a problem. One of the first things I always did was remove it completely. Either just disable it by plugging the vacuum control (on my G20) or with my NX I removed it all together.

Just clean it up and reinstall it. You won't need to touch it again for 5 or 6 years
